Dolphin Residence is located in a central and convenient area of Didim town, Altinkum. There are local shops and bars all within a couple of minutes walk, as well as Ataturk Boulevard's attractions a 5 minute walk away.
The local bus runs past the complex, to go to Altinkum's sandy beaches and Didim's famous Temple of Apollon is about a 10 minute walk from the complex.
The apartment is located on the first floor. There is an elevator in the building. The apartment is a spacious 2 bedrooms, 2 balconies property. The apartment is situated away from the communal facilities hence quieter than those overlooking the large communal pool, jacuzzi pool, poolside bar, children's park and more.

The Aegean Coast region

The Aegean region of Turkey is a mixture of modern and traditional lifestyle. There are large modern cities such as Izmir and Aydin through to small old fashioned villages. A large proportion of the land is for farming so the area remains undamaged by industry.

The regions climate is superb - warm and pleasant for most of the year, but it also has a high oxygen ratio and low humidity rate, making it very advantageous to one’s health. Turkish doctors often refer patients with chest conditions to come to Didim for convalescence. Asthma sufferers and those with bronchitis will feel the benefits almost immediately.

Altinkum itself benefits from a continual light breeze, making even the warmest of hot summer days feel quite pleasant. Most of the resort faces south for maximum sunshine and here in Altinkum we experience more than 330 days of sunshine every year.

Within a short drive of Altinkum Didim, there is a wide range of places to see. All are accessible by car or by booking with a local tour operator.

New for 2009, Izmir's wildlife park has opened. The fantastic parklands home one of the widest collections of wild animals in Europe. Izmir is a 2 hour drive from Altinkum, Didim.

In Kusadasi, (less than an hour's drive) Europe's largest water park (and the 7th largest in the world) is open (Adaland) where one can swim with dolphins if splashing around and trying out the daring water shoots isn't enough fun for one day. Didim also has its own excellent water park which is accessible by local bus (dolmus). Kusadasi houses some of the countries finest luxury shops, for those with plenty of spending money or for those who like to window shop!

Bodrum is well worth a visit and can be reached by road or via a boat trip along the coast. Bodrum is a picturesque seaside resort with its own marina, castle and beaches.

Altinkum / Didim area

Altinkum means 'Golden Sands' and the resort certainly lives up to the name. There is something like 35 Km of golden sands around Altinkum, Didim . The resort of Altinkum stretches along three main beaches with many excellent restaurants, bars and shops and several night clubs. There is a harbour where fresh fish can be purchased every morning and there is Europe's second largest marina (to officially open in September 2009).

Didim town is an extension of the Altinkum resort centre. The town is where you will find authentic Turkish restaurants and bars, at local prices, as opposed to tourist prices. The town centre has a large boulevard which runs from The Temple of Apollon, down through the town centre and down to Altinkum's beaches. The boulevard is lined with palm trees and makes a lovely evening stroll. The ambience in Didim Town is slower than in Altinkum resort centre.

Didim has a busy and lively Saturday market where you can find all sorts of bargains and fresh local produce. You will find fantastic leather goods, spices, copy designer products, Turkish delight and carpets at a fraction of the normal prices. The resort and town centre also have a wide choice of jewellers selling 22ct gold.

Altinkums position makes it an ideal base for site seeing. On the doorstep, the Temple of Apollo is a short bus ride away. Ephesus, one of the wonders of the world is a day trip and the Roman Baths at Pamukkale are wihin easy reach. Closer to Altinkum, there are several ancient Greek mythological ruins, including the attractions of Miletos and Prienne.

There is a range of nightclubs, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

Bafa Lake is a nature reserve a short drive from Altinkum. Bird lovers and nature enthusiasts will be in their element at Bafa Lake (don't forget to bring your binoculars!).

Horse riding, evening horse safaris, jeep safaris, scuba diving, night time fishing, fishing out at sea, water sports, quad biking, paintballing, tennis, volleyball, bowling are just some of the attractions that are available in Altinkum. How to get there

Altinkum, Didim is located between two international airports - Bodrum and Izmir, and is accessible 12 months of the year. Bodrum airport is approximately a 75 minutes drive and Izmir airport is approximately a 90 minute drive. Airport transfers can be arranged.

Flights into Izmir and Bodrum airports can be found from many different airlines. Please enquire for a list of useful travel operators and websites should you need any help finding flights.

Car Hire is possible from both airports through AVIS rent-a-car or alternatively, you can rent-a-car for a part of your holiday from a travel operator in Altinkum. You will need a full valid UK driving licence to hire a car in Turkey.

Dolphin Residence is an ideal holiday home, 12 months of the year. The property sleeps 4 in beds and has extra capacity with two sofa beds. The apartment is a large 2 bedroom, 2 balconies property, situated on the first floor of Dolphin Residence. The apartment is located away from the communal facilities and is a quiet place to sleep and rest.
The apartment has two bedrooms which have been furnished as a twin bedroom and a spacious double bedroom (with balcony). There is a bathroom with bath and shower. There is a washing machine. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen with large fridge freezer and a hob top. There are sliding doors from the kitchen onto a square balcony with stone built BBQ. The kitchen is open onto a large lounge, equipped with two double sofa beds and a colour TV with satellite TV system.
The apartment is equipped with keycard electricity system, for economy and consequently, the landlord is able to make a very reasonable charge of £10 per week, towards electricity costs.
Dolphin Residence is situated in Didim Town centre and has amenities all around. The closest bar is but 200m from the complex, the closest supermarket is 300m and Ataturk Boulevard with its wide choice of eateries and bars is only 300m (less than a 5 minute walk). Buses drive straight past the complex on a regular basis and a bus ride to the beaches of Altinkum is only 10 minutes drive and costs less than 50 pence to travel.

There is no need to leave the complex though, if you wish to stay on site as every convenience and amusement is catered for. The complex benefits from the following internal facilities:

fitness centre with various machines and free weights. The fitness centre has a lovely view over the outdoor pool and gardens. There are changing rooms.
