The Aegean Coast region
The Aegean Coast enjoys on average 300 days of sunshine a year. Just 5km away from Altinkum is the Appollo Temple and trips to other historic places are available in Altinkum.
Aydin: Aydin, the distict administrative centre, where figs are grown in the surrounding country, along with other fresh produce. With some superb coastal resorts where Brits love to go on holiday.
Altinkum: Gold Sand is an apt name for this popular resort; there are three main beaches by the Agean Sea. The beaches are safe and ideal for families. The town has a good range of restaurants and bars. A new marina and golf course are currently being built.
Didim: The resort, which is on a peninsula, may be small but it packs in plenty of attractions such as long sandy beaches, a water park and the ancient Temple of Apollo. Nearby is Bafa Lake National Park. The climate is warm and sunny.
Kusadasi: Half a million people flock to Kisadasi's beaches in summer. They make good use of the nearby Aqua Land and Aqua Fantasy water park with 300 or so sunny days each year.
Altinkum / Didim area
Altinkum is a small popular resort on the Agean coast. The name translates to 'Golden Sand'. It has three beaches and the sea is shallow for a long way out, making it ideal for families with children.
Altinkum caters for everyone: by day quiet and relaxing, by night it is livened up by numerous bars around the resort. Family aimed bars have a fun atmosphere and light music, for a lively night out there are bars with a faster pace as well as nightclubs including an open air nightclub with live music and shows. Every restaurant offers a full English menu with light snacks or roast dinners, or traditional Turkish cuisine. This is a must-try.
In the centre of Altinkum you will find a shopping centre with cash machines. The Turkish people are hospitable and eager to please. Most speak English. Altinkum has a marina where boat trips may be booked. The new marina is under construction and should be finished in September 2008.
