The Aegean Coast region
Altinkum is a beach lovers paradise ,situated on the Southern Aegean Coast of Turkey. Simpler and quieter than Kusadasi, Marmaris and Bodrum, it is the ideal resort to relax in.
Altinkum's beaches have fine golden sand and making it the perfect place for children and families.
If you want nightlife you will find a good choice of lively bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

THE NEW MARINA HAS BEEN BUILT!! Operational from May 2009, and The largest golf course in the Aegean region coming soon!! At present there is a small harbour for pleasure boats and fishing boats. The pleasure boats go out daily to the small islands and bays around Altinkum.
There is a Diving school at 3rd beach (five mins walk from apartment) who cater for complete beginners through to advance divers.
Horseriding is a must in Turkey with their fabulous landscapes, mountains and breathtaking sunsets, and there are two main ranches to choose from (You can book riding days on site at Royal Marina) The surrounding area is very pretty with secluded bays and views of the hills. You don't have to travel far to see typical Turkish cotton fields and olive trees.
Close by the ancient town of Didim stands the magnificent remains of the Temple of Apollo. These ruins are definitely worth a visit as many of its columns are still remarkably well preserved after 2.000 years.
There are many other places to visit in this area including Miletus, Prienne, Ephesus and Pamukkale ( Cotton Castle ) which are sights not to be missed.

• DISTANCE: Bodrum is just over one hours drive. Izmir is one and a half hours drive.
• FLIGHTS: Try Sky Scanner and A1travel.com for cheap flights
• TRANSFERS: The company that manages the apartments, and have an onsite reception at the Royal Marina complex, Oracle (www.oracletravelestates.com) offers an airport pick up and drop off service. It is a door to door service which we have used and it is very reliable. £25 for two people, for one way from BODRUM (MILAS), each additional person is £7.50. £40 for two people, for one way from IZMIR AIRPORT, each additional person is £7.50.
We have also used 'Semtours' (www.semtours.com) who charge £7.50 per person eachway.
We also recommend Maxitours (www.maxitourdidim.com) 1-3 person : £ 30 4-5 person : £ 40 6-7 person : £ 50 8-10 person : £ 60 , again very reliable.
• VISA: You will need to buy a visa at the airport so make sure you have £10 in cash per person to buy the visa (€10 if you have a E.C. passport, $10 if you are American)
• CAR HIRE: The big car hire companies have offices at the airports, and there are small companies offering car hire in Didim itself - rates were around £25 a day for a Clio, £30 for a Fiat Doblo in 2007, . reduced rates for multiple days. Most of the companies dont mind some negotiation on price.

The apartment is ground floor ideal for families with young children, no concerns with balcony height, and with only a few steps leading to the main door it is easy to access with a pushchair. Both bedrooms have brand new large air-conditioning units as well as the lounge area. The main bedroom has a dressing table (essential for us ladies!) and a very luxurious and comfortable double bed. There is plenty of storage space for clothes/suitcases/presents to take home etc, with the apartment having two triple wardrobes (with LOTS of hangers) The Bathroom has a bath with a shower overhead, fitted specifically for families with small children. It also has a childs step so they can use the wc and reach the sink. There is a brand new pushchair in the apartment which is suitable from 6 weeks-6 years. The complex is brand new and has been finished to an exceptional (British) standard. Royal Marina is a 10 minute stroll from the resort centre of Altinkum or to the nearest beautiful sandy beach. It has Reception office (for car hire, booking excursions, money exchange etc)
