The Costa Blanca/Valencia region
The Costa Blanca is a rich, fertile land steeped in history with influences from many different cultures that have overlapped to create what it is today.
The area where Jazmines IV is located is known as Costa Blanca North which reaches as far North as Valencia and flows down to Alicante to the South; below Alicante starts the Costa Blanca South.
Along the Costa Blanca there are over 100 kilometres of coastline on which you can enjoy the sea and the climate. Choosing the place to suit you mood is easy because the seashore is so diverse. In addition, you'll be pleased to know that the Costa Blanca has been given more Blue Flags than any other tourist destination in Europe since the creation of this award, providing proof of the excellent quality of its water and beaches.
This area offers more than a chance to do some swimming or sunbathing. There is a complete infrastructure for sports-lovers of all kinds. You'll discover that many coastal areas have their own sailing schools, and some run their own scuba diving courses in summer. All this happens at any one of the twenty one sports marinas along the Costa Blanca.
If you are interested in art or history, you'll find quite a lot of sightseeing as this area boasts a rich history and culture influenced by the Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians and Carthaginians. Inland, you'll see watchtowers and castles looming up on every horizon. As you travel about, you'll find a wide range of museums throughout the Costa Blanca region.
The area of Denia has almost twenty kilometres of coastline boasting fine sandy beaches with shallow waters to the north of town and a series of small coves along the rocky coast to the south known as Les Rotes. The Montgo Mountain shared by Denia and Javea is the major landmark of the area.
Around Javea from north to south the capes of San Antonio, San Martin, Negre and La Nao crown the coastline creating a series of secluded coves. Calpe on the other hand boasts a long gently curving bay whose northern edge is dominated by the impressive Rock of Ifach.
The rock is a nature park and towers 332 meters above the sea. The summit can be reached via a pathway tunnelled through the solid rock from where you can enjoy a marvellous panorama of the coastline and out to Ibiza on a clear day.
Altea consists of two parts: a beautiful beach front and the town itself built on a steep mountainside and dwarfed by its 15th Century church, La Virgen De La Convelo. If you visit the beach by day then do visit the town at night when it really comes alive - the area around the Church boasts some of the best restaurants in the area; as well as the many restaurants there are gift shops and artists stalls nestled among the narrow cobbled streets.
Calpe is a very cosmopolitan town and a big business centre. It also boast two superb beaches. Calpe rock is situated here - Penon De Ifach - the symbol of the Costa Blanca. You can take glass bottomed boats trips around the rock and you can reach its top in around 45 minutes if you feel up to it! Calpe offers a great selection of restaurants and you may be offered a class of Sangria as you browse these near the harbour.
Benidorm is situated in a beautiful setting with two wonderful sandy bays separated by a rocky promontory that offers great views in each direction to Poniente and Levante beaches. A towering offshore fountain adds to the "big resort" spectacle. Old Benidorm lives on in the narrow streets near the castle, where English-owned pubs and bars have long been part of the scenery.
But for a taste of Benidorm at its most cutting edge head for the nightclubs, discos, pubs and cafes spreading out to the east or the Levante beach, not forgetting the major attractions focused in the Rincon de Loix area. Benidorm Palace is also well worth a visit with its exotic live entertainment with accompanying dinner menu.
Guadalest offers some of the most spectacular views anywhere in Spain, Guadalest nestles high in the hills. Although a small village it offers wonderful scenery and a fantastic trip around the castle. Hundreds of feet below is a lake and beyond lies mountains and villages for you to explore.
