Balcon Altea Hills
Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
A very well appointed contemporary apartment located in the beautiful and prestigious resort of Altea Hills. The property is part of a small peaceful development nestled between the Mediterranean sea and the Sierra Bernia mountains. The breathtaking views of both can be enjoyed from the spacious terrace, accessed directly from the lounge and master bedroom and providing opportunities for outdoor eating and relaxing. A car is essential to explore near and far and allocated parking makes life easy when you return.
The apartment is cosy with a distinctive style introduced by the family owners. Air conditioning or heating make for comfortable living as does the range of everyday utilities and kitchen appliances. It's a real home from home but with long sunny days and warm summer nights. Walk outside and as you pass through the small garden you'll find your way down to the meticulously maintained swimming pool where you can enjoy the tranquility and calm brought about by the surrounding pine forest. If it's serenity you're looking for then this is the perfect retreat.
The apartment is ideal for couples or a small family and the surrounding area has something to suit all tastes. You could take a short drive to La Olla, where you'll find small tapas bars and chiringuitos by the side of the sea or enjoy all that Luis Campomanes marina has to offer. Drive a little further and discover the charming old town of Altea with its narrow cobbled streets and more restaurants, bars and chic shops than you can possibly fit into your stay. The beaches of Calpe and the coastline to Moraira are stunning and not to be missed. And when you're ready to experience a very different and cool Spain the village of Callosa de'n Sarria and the Algar waterfalls are within easy reach. For a charge, golf or tennis are available close by, as are the sport and health facilities within the highly rated Pierre & Vacances Hotel located at the entrance to the urbanisation. The mountains offer some of the best hill walking and hiking in Europe with a range of distances and difficulties to suit every climber. And finally, if lively entertainment is for you or the children then Benidorm and all that we know about it is only 10 kilometres away.

The Costa Blanca/Valencia region
The COSTA BLANCA is mainland Spain's most popular year-round holiday area with a reputation for having one of the healthiest climates in the world and enjoying more than 300 days of sunshine each year. The 'White Coast' stretches from Valencia in the north to Alicante and beyond in the south and attracts visitors from Spain and many other countries. Gandia, Javea and Denia are popular resorts in the north; further south you'll find Moraira, Calpe, Altea, Albir and Benidom. The lively and elegant city of Alicante with its historic landmarks serves as a perfect introduction to the region. A visit to Valencia is a must, here you will discover a remarkable city where remnants of times BC sit side by side with innovative and avant-garde buildings from the new millennium.
Spectacular beaches, secluded coves, valleys, rugged mountains and a wide range of vegetation are all characteristics of the region and explain why Spanish visitors and others from across the world visit year after year. People also come to enjoy unspoilt, traditional Spain in the plethora of inland villages. If it's sport or recreational activity that makes your holiday then a whole host of opportunities are available. There are several immaculate 9 and 18 hole golf courses, many receiving national and international acclaim; tennis courts are widely available, either attached to residential developments or within public leisure facilities. Cycling is very popular in Spain and the Costa Blanca has earned cult status amongst biking aficionados. It also provides many opportunities for recreational cycling where you can take in the scenery of the coastline from sea level. Walking and trekking opportunities are plentiful. Whether it's a day tour in the Montgó Natural park or a breathtaking coastal cliff hike you require you'll find plenty of information and guides to assist you.
The 100km of coastline that makes up the Costa Blanca is dotted with fine quality marinas, many of which have earned flags for their cleanliness and facilities. If you are an avid sailing enthusiast or a seasoned ocean dweller, this part of Spain promises to enthrall you with its natural beauty and outstanding facilities. If you prefer to try your hand at jet ski-ing, kayaking, sailboarding, diving and much more then a small and friendly water sports centre will never be far away. Alternatively you may just wish to relax, eat and drink in a quayside bar or restaurant while dreaming about having a small boat or ocean going yacht of your own.
ALTEA is undoubtedly one of the most charming towns in the Costa Blanca. It's a holiday haven for the discerning tourist, with ancient cobbled streets and picture book old quarter. The blue and white tiled dome of the Parochial Church (Nuestra Senora del Consuelo) gently imposes itself on the surrounding area.
The quaint and characterful streets, many of which are stepped, wind up to the church and plaza at the top of the hill, from where there are magnificent views of the mountains and the sea. The pedestrianised cobbled streets are packed with top class restaurants and a fascinating array of tiny shops offering exquisite local crafts, paintings and designer clothes. The municipality spreads down to the Mediterranean and the delightful palm-fringed esplanade where you can walk, jog or cycle with ease south to Albir or north to Luis Campomanes.
You may want to spend a Tuesday morning in the hustle and bustle of the large street market or jump on the tram, a narrow gauge railway that connects Altea with Alicante and Denia, passing through spectacular scenery over viaducts and through short mountain tunnels.
