About the home

The apartment is located in the beautifully maintained private estate of Altea Hills which incorporates a five star hotel with tennis courts, paddle courts, a squash court, gym, health spa, indoor heated pool, outdoor pools, bar and an excellent restaurant.

The interior has been furnished to a luxurious but homely standard to make your holiday extra special. The property has air conditioning for the summer months and heating for the winter. There is a large living room with comfortable leather sofa, glass coffee table, flat screen TV and DVD. The main living room has full width sliding glass doors which open to a large balcony with breathtaking views to the coast and the Sierra Bernia mountains to be enjoyed while alfresco dining or relaxing on the outdoor chairs. Both indoor and outdoor dining areas accommodate 6 guests.

The surprisingly large master bedroom has a king size double bed, spectacular south facing floor to ceiling windows with breathtaking views and direct access on to the balcony. Ample wardrobe and storage space is provided as well as a full length mirror for checking how you look before a romantic evening meal in one of Altea's legendary restaurants. For those evenings you would rather stay in a fully equipped kitchen will make the experience all that more desirable.

The apartment is situated in landscaped gardens which accommodate a superb outdoor pool with children's shallow end and outdoor play area with swings and rides. There is ample space for lounging in the sun either on the balcony or on the pool side sun loungers. A private covered parking space is provided in a secure garage with a lift to the apartment.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

The Costa Blanca offers all round sunshine and a warm climate. Very little rainfall affects this region which makes the Costa Blanca an ideal all year round resort favoured by all ages.

The picturesque historical town of Altea with its three marinas is set amongst a beautiful mountainous coastline and offers a truly traditional Spanish experience combined with many cosmopolitan influences.

Despite its close proximity to one of Europe’s largest tourist hot spots the white-washed old town of Altea has remained untouched by mass tourism. Altea is set around a beautiful blue roofed hill top church, clustered within white Spanish town houses set on winding cobbled streets. Art galleries, boutiques and hidden-away gastronomic delights make the town of Altea a pleasure to explore at any time of the year.

Altea has been the holiday destination of wealthy Spanish people from Madrid for generations because it is their nearest coastal point and more importantly because of its all year round micro climate which ensures that the temperature does not normally fluctuate by more than 7 degrees in either direction from its 21degree average. Altea is also the closest natural geographical point to the Balearic Islands, providing easy ferry access on a daily basis to Ibiza from the nearby towns of Denia or Alicante.

The nearby and lively resort of Benidorm is a year round favourite for all ages, it has everything to offer from theme parks, go-karting, great shopping, legendary night life, Blue Flag award winning beaches and fantastic restaurants offering the days catch. Moving inland there are superb mountainside towns to be explored such as Guadalest - steeped in history, waterfalls, and the orange and lemon groves that spring up on the roadsides. The coastline offers many stunning beaches and is peppered with the popular neighbouring towns of Denia, Moraira, Javea, Albir and Calpe.

The Altea / Altea Hills area

Altea is located on Spain's "White Coast" in the Spanish region of Valencia, just 40 minutes drive from Alicante airport, and is without doubt one of the most charming towns to be found on the Costa Blanca. Altea is a holiday haven for the more discerning tourist who will be enthralled by its medieval cobbled streets, its picture book old quarter and the delightful palm-fringed seafront esplanade. You'll find a plethora of tiny shops offering wonderful local crafts, paintings and gifts. There are also numerous excellent restaurants where you can enjoy both local and international cuisine.

At the foot of the hill lies the wide sea promenade and main beach - Playa de la Roda, with soft white sand lined by palm trees. L’Olla is another much-frequented beach opposite a small island of the same name. Further north is the Greenwich Marina, home to some of the most magnificent cruisers and yachts of the rich and famous. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants here from which to admire the views.

The 5 star Altea Hills hotel (5 minutes) has four clay tennis courts, paddle courts, squash court, gym, three outdoor pools, indoor pool and spa centre. Altea town has two high quality water sports centres which offer diving, sailing, windsurfing, fishing, water-skiing and local boat cruises.

Golf is available at 5 different courses all within 30 mins drive. Don Cayo – 9 holes (5 mins), Bonalba - 18 holes (20 mins), La Sella – 27 holes (20 mins), Alicante – 18 holes (25 mins), Oliva Nova – 18 holes (30 mins).

Other activities available locally are: walking, cycling, horse riding and mountain biking.

The major tourist attractions of Benidorm are a short drive down the road. Spain's biggest theme park, Terra Mitica (www.terramiticapark.com) is a wonderdul experience for all ages with white knuckle thrills for true roller coaster junkies as well as kiddies rides and spectacular themed shows. The water park at Aqualandia (www.aqualandia.net/) offers a fun packed day-out for all the family which can be combined with a visit to the exotic bird and marine life centre Mundomar (www.mundomar.es) with its fabulous dolphin show just next door.

For the boys an excellent go-karting track twenty minutes down the road at Finestrat (www.kartingfinestrat.com) is open all year round and offers junior karts to fully tuned 130km/hr adrenaline racers for competition around a 1000m twisting track.

The magnificent Guadelest castle and reservoir are a 35 min drive into the mountains from the apartment. The castle village, reached through a tunnel, is a delight with many little craft and souvenir shops.

La Vila Joiosa, the jewelled town, has brightly painted houses akin to Balamory and a beautiful sandy beach and historic buildings. There are a number of beautiful beaches to chose from in close proximity.

A narrow gauge railway connects Altea with Alicante in the south and Denia in the North running along the coast and passing through some spectacular scenary, via-ducts and mountain tunnels. The busy port town of Denia is the base for ferries to Ibiza and has a beautiful walled castle with commanding views over the coast.

Only 40 minutes by car from Alicante airport serviced by a multitude of budget airlines (Easyjet, Ryanair, Thomson, Jet2, Monarch, Flybe etc) with direct flights to London, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Blackpool, Doncaster, Manchester, Derry, Cardiff and Bournemouth.

Alternatively 60 minutes by car from Valencia airport serviced by Ryanair and Easyjet with flights to Stansted, East Midland, Gatwick, Bounemouth and Bristol.
