The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Alston

The Eden Valley offers some of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery where visitors can simply enjoy the wonderful countryside and explore it as they wish; by walking, cycling and even horse riding in some places. It is also situated near to two national parks enabling guests to have easy access to more beautiful scenery! At the river Eden, visitors can also enjoy a spot of fishing whilst taking in the lovely views. For other activities on the water, Eden Valley has a selection of different sports including canoeing, sailing and even raft building or for inland activities; paintballing is a popular past time along with 4x4 off road experiences. Eden Valley has a large number of different activities to suit everyone whilst making the most of this magnificent and stunning area of Cumbria.
