The Cumbria/Lake District

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Alston is in the North Pennines, and is England's highest market town and was also the location for ITV's productions of Jane Eyre and Oliver Twist. The town is home to interesting shops and galleries or enjoy the scenery of the South Tyne valley on the South Tynedale Railway. Cumbria, the Lake District and Northumberland are all within easy reach.
