The Kyrenia District
The climate in Northern Cyprus makes this an ideal summer or winter destination. It is located 5 minutes from safe, clean, sandy beaches with full facilities and only 15 minutes to the fantastic old harbour town of Kyrenia.
Alsancak - Karavas
The nearest village is Alsancak which is walking distance. By car, the border into Southern Cyprus is 30 minutes; Famagusta is 1.5 hours; St. Hilarion Castle at the top of a mountain peak is approx 15 mins and the Karpas peninsular with its miles of white sandy beaches is 2 hours away. Cenap, one of the most popular mezze restaurants in the north, is located in Alsancak. In the village there is also a supermarket with most things you would need - including nappies and formula! They also have fresh milk and bread after 11a.m. Other local supermarkets have a lot of UK-brand goods. The best ones are Tempo (5 minutes from the villa); Lemar (10 minutes from the villa). A comprehensive list of recommended restaurants and places to visit is available in the villa.

"Comfortable and attractive villa"
Lovely villa with beautiful pool (although decidedly chilly in Oct). Weather was great, in upper twenties and wall to wall sunshine our whole 2 weeks. There are plenty of supermarkets, restaurants nearby. Also the Aqua park very close. You can see it from the villa. My daughter and family went several times and they didn't have to pay. The beaches are not quite up to the standard of those in the south and for the nice ones there is a charge. The sea was a nice temperature and we swam nearly every day. We found the standard of food very good both at the beach bars and the restaurants especially those recommended in the villa folder. Kyrenia is nice especially down by the harbour. There is a big market on a Wednesday. We had a great holiday and enjoyed casa Magdalena. Our only drawback was that the pool was very cold when we were there in Oct. Villa manager was excellent and sorted out a few minor problems we had at the start of the holiday very quickly. Could have done with a change of sheets in a 2 week stay.
Hatib, our Manager, is wonderful and very efficient. A mid-stay clean and change of sheets is available from him on request. We hope to welcome you back again at a time of year when the pool is warmer.

"The best place to relax in Cyprus"
A lovely villa, large, spacious and very well equipt and the owner is very helpful dealing with any questions you might have. We went for a week last year, 3 weeks this year and we could have stayed longer. The villa has a large, well maintained pool which we could still use even in the evenings in late September. You do need a car but the villa is withing easy driiving distance of modern supermarkets, restaurants (many) and beaches. Eating out is very good value for money although the villa has a large kitchen and an outside barbeque. The villa is very safe for children (we had 3 under 4 with us) with enough space to spread out and not trip over each other. We will be visiting this venue again!!

"Lovely Stay in La Casa Magdalena"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lovely villa La Casa Magdalena. The villa itself is very nicely furnished and comfortable. The pool was beautifully warm and very inviting on a hot day. It is too far to walk to a shop or resturant from the villa (with a young child) but supermarkets and restaurants were only a few minutes drive away. Beaches were also easy to get to but many charge for people to use them which we have not been used to at other destinations. Overall we had a lovely holiday.

"The best family holiday"
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Northern Cyprus and our stay at Villa Magdelena in August 2013. A completely easy smooth process - Laura the owner was excellent at communicating and answering any questions. She organised our taxi transfer from Larnaca and car hire, both of which were top class - from the huge Mercedes mini van taxi waiting for us at the airport despite a flight delay, to finding our car waiting at the villa for us. The villa is spotless, equipped with all you need and very comfortable. We loved the water cooler. Beds and bedding were excellent and it was a bonus to have beach towels. It was hot when we came - near 40 degrees, but the breeze and the pool and the air con in the bedrooms meant that it was fine - in fact lovely and a real hot summer holiday. The pool and surrounding terrace and gardens are as lovely as they look in the pictures and we spent a lot of time chilling out doing not very much! It is not overlooked and there is lots of shade from the umbrellas and the almond tree next to the house. We also all loved hearing the calls to prayer from the village mosque when we were outside. It is easy to drive around the local area and we explored lots of different beaches and restaurants. The food and drink was a highlight and such good value that we could eat out every day - making this a real holiday. We wanted to book for this summer but the villa is already booked up! We are still coming to Northern Cyprus as we have lots more to explore but would have liked to have been back in Villa Magdelena! Highly recommended and thank you Laura!

"Perfect spot for a relaxing break"
Casa Magdalena is a very pleasant, spacious three bedroom (two ensuite) house with a generously sized (10m or so, at a guess), and excellently maintained pool, set in well maintained and attractive gardens. The house offers real privacy, as the gardens are mature with tall foliage running round the perimeter of the (large) plot on which the house is built. There are sea views from the pool area and both of the patio areas, but the house was such a pleasant place to spend time that we found we didn't even have the urge to travel the mile or so to the beach. Owner Laura oversaw a quick and simple booking process, and also assisted with airport transfers and taxis. On a future visit we will fly into Larnaca (the justifiably high price of the taxi for the long drive from Paphos meant the small saving on airfare was cancelled out), and also be aware that wireless internet is provided via a dongle, so it is not possible to use a wi-fi only iPad. We'll bring our laptop next next time!

My husband, son and myself have been to Northern Cyprus 3 years running and for the past two have stayed at Casa Magdalina. We love this villa to due the comfortability Cleanliness and safety. Our son is only 3 so all 3 were very important to us. Always feel totally relaxed when staying here. The pool is lovely and the gardens wonderful. We had a slight problem with the air conditioning but between the Property Manager and Owners it was rectified straight away. Absolutely brilliant!. The owners must be very proud.

"First visit and really delighted with our stay both villa and island lovely"
We visited Cyprus for the first time attending a family wedding and Casa Magdalena was the perfect place for our family. The facilities were great, lovely pool and villa and very well presented. The gardens surrounding all the villa were great and gave additional privacy as well. Generally eating out places were plentiful and good value. Transfer, car hire and input of manager were all organised by the owner and were excellent - many thanks for making our holiday so memorable.

First of all, the villa is fantastic - out of the villas we have rented around the world for our family summer holiday over the last six years, this one was the best by a stretch ... it is sizeable, fully equipped, private, and perhaps most importantly, has a fantastic 'feel good' atmosphere and sense about it ... our girls (7, 8, 9) loved it, too! We spent our days with no particular agenda, some days staying about here at the villa, in and out of the pool, and others away exploring, including at the beach ... our favourite is Escape - clean, well presented and terrific food - staff are a tad sultry, but can't have it all, I suppose. Denizkizi was a disaster, over-crowded and dirty - we actually packed in after an hour. A highlight of our stay was the Turtle Project - we booked in and headed east just past Acapulco and down a dirt road to a rather non-descript shack that was home for the summer to a number of university students from a number of countries who had volunteered for this conservation project ... after a short briefing, we headed down to the beach, where we - and the other 10 people in the party - were able to hold and let go several hatchlings into the sea - we were told only 1 in 1000 will survive, but these little things would swim up to 2 miles out that night ... we then witnessed at 3 in the morning a large Green species turtle laying her eggs - she had come up from the sea, used her powerful fins to carve out a huge hole in the sand, before laying the eggs - and then using her fins again to cover these up, before, very tired, moving back to the sea - this was absolutely amazing and something the kids will never forget ... We tried a number of different restaurants, and provide a thumbs up for Cenap and also the Hilltop Restaurant in Lapta, although the latter was a bit more expensive and perhaps the highlight was more of the view ... food at Escape beach was top! Also recommend the pizzeria across from Starling. If there are any drawbacks - probably that there is a growing and arguably too much of a British influence ... signs for fish and chips and full English are a turn off for us ... and it is a shame that there is so much commercialisation of the coastline ... Really appreciated the dongle, but suggested to the owners that they might want to ask people if they want internet access and then build this into the price or offer 1GB data as part of the package, as we had to go to Lemar to purchase data ... works great, though! Hatib, the gentleman who manages the villa on behalf of the owners, was great, very responsive and knowledgeable about the island. We had a great stay and would most definitely recommend La Casa Magdalena! John & Sharon McNeil July 2012

"A relaxing and private villa, perfect for a complete rest or family vacation"
We had a wonderful rest which is just what we wanted. The beautiful gardens and large, clean and very warm pool meant that we didn't need to go out if we didn't want to. We were swimming at 22.00 in perfect comfort. The villa is very attractive, spacious and very well equipt. It was clean and we were very grateful for the welcome pack as we didn't arrive until Sunday evening. I appreciate some families with school age children have to go in July/August but it was VERY hot so beware, strong suncreams and hats required at this time of the year. We found eating out very reasonable and there are some lovely restaurants within a short car journey from the villa. A car is, by the way, essential. The harbour in Kyrenia is very pretty and the cafe/restaurants around that area very good value for money. We only went for a week this year but we will be returning next year with our son's family which includes 2 young children and we will stay longer. They will love it. It would be difficult to be disappointed!!

"A stunning villa and garden with all the comforts of home"
We were so taken with the whole setting of La Casa Magdelena - the garden we thought was stunning and the planting really enhanced the villa. Within easy reach of some interesting sites - we visited St Hilarion, Kantara and Kyrenia castles and would recommend these if you like to flavour your holiday with a little culture. Belapais Abbey is also a must see - about half an hour away and breathtakingly beautiful. The villa itself was well equipped for a family - although we were only 2 adults, it would be an ideal place for children as there were toys provided to keep little ones amused - if you could get them out of the pool long enough! Talking of which the pool was superb and for us one of the highlights of the holiday. Just so great to be able to cool down and relax in. The owners were very helpful organising a hired car and taxi collection and drop off for us and we really felt at home from the moment we arrived. One thing we enjoyed so much was going into Kyrenia in the evening and watching the world go by as we tried out various restaurants around the pretty harbour. Thoroughly recommended.
