The Rhone/French Alps region

Since 1936, Alpe d’Huez has expanded at an altitude of 1860m on the southern flank of the Grandes Rousses Massif - also called “The Island in the Sunshine”, this health resort enjoys long sunshine (an average of 300 sun days per year) and a particularly active micro climate.

less than 1 hour away from Grenoble, 5 from Paris, Alpe d’Huez is a great playground with varied activities to do with your family and/or your friends.

Alpe d'Huez

Alpe D’huez, The Lifestyle Resort ! for both Summer and Winter holidays in a fully animated resort.

This special naming of Lifestyle Resort is justified by its natural features and richness. This can be seen from the quality of its general reception, which was awarded the regional Reception Trophy 2003, the Quality Charter for an ever growing number of accommodations to rent, the large number of skiing and non-skiing activities, the performance of the ski lifts and the vertical drop, 4 itineraries with 2000 meters vertical drop… and some runs such as the Sarenne, the longest run in the world with a length of 16 kilometers what guarantees a long-time skiing pleasure…

For a comprehensive list of activities available in teh resort go to the following website:-

http://www.alpedhuez.com/hiver/en/31/82/all-activities.html

Here are a few activities:-

Summer ~ Cycling (on road 21 bends! on mountains), walking, swimming, golf, ice skating, paragliding, Tennis, archery, squash, horse riding, microlight flights, climbing, table tennis, badmington etc........

Huez : a genuine mountain village…

•At an altitude of 1450m, overhanging the Sarenne comb, lies Huez, offering the quietness of a mountian village and the nearness of an international mountain resort.

•Quietness, comfort and art of living make this village a place to enjoy time passing by. Everything here encourages lounging about, discovery of the tiny alleys leading to the Roman church, Sainte-Anne.

•One hotel and two country gîtes welcome tourists in quest of genuineness.

•During the season shops, bars, bookshops and a cyber spot are open to the public.

•Thanks to the televillage of Huez - a main thread between history and modernity – skiers can access the resort of Alpe d’Huez within 5 minutes.

•Alpe d’Huez has a comprehensive entertainment programme in summer and winter – see the website http://www.alpedhuez.com for up-to-date announcements
