The Rhone / French Alps / Isere region
Alpe d'Huez lies in the Oisans area of France's Isere department some 63km from the regions capital, Grenoble. It boasts 300 days of sunshine per year making it the ideal situation for summer sports. The route to Alpe dd'Huez is most famous for the 21 hairpin bend tackled by the competitiors in the Tour de France.

From July to September the cable cars are open taking biking, skiiing and walking enthusiats to the Glacier. Miles of walking and biking trails are open with several of the mountainside restaurants being open for coffee and lunch. In addition to outdoor pursuits on the mountains there is plenty to do in the town itself, ice skating, swimming (indoor and outdoor), taboggoning and golf include some of the other options. For those who enjoy a liitle retail therapy there are a number of boutiques, delicatessens, bookshops etc. In addition there are several well stocked supermarkets and a couple of pharmacies. There is a large number of cafe's, restaurants and bars with something to suit everyone.
