Home description
This 200 year old traditional mountain house is huddled among seven other houses in the picturesque hamlet of Ribot Huez on Alpe d'Huez, an eight minute drive from the resort of Alpe d’Huez. Its location offers tranquil accommodation a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan resort. At an elevation of 1200 meters, the Chalet is surrounded by pine forests and overlooks the valley of Bourg d’Oisans, the view from the Chalet is truly awe inspiring.
Within the chalet are 5 self contained apartments, each with its own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and sleeping areas, giving you the choice to cater for yourself or just relax and let us do the cooking.
The Chalet also offers specialist cycling accommodation for some of the thousands of visitors who flock to the area to enjoy the gruelling climbs and exhilarating descents offered by the French Alpes.

The Rhone / French Alps / Isere region
'Rhone Alps is a region full of contrasts, boarded with the Alps in the east and the Massif Central in the West. This Region has a huge diversity of landscapes, natural parks and climates. With a surface of 44 000 km2, Rhône-Alps stretches over 200 km from the north to the south and about180 km from West to East. The two main characteristics of Rhone Alps are water and mountain. The mountains are just part of the region: more than half the territory is situated at an altitude of more than 500m. In Rhone-Alps, culture is a second nature. About 200 museums, 300 libraries, and some…500 cinemas, constitute a rich and varied range of facilities to make the very most of a very deep culture and identity of the Rhone Alps region. '
Alpe d'Huez area
Summer: 'Alpe d’Huez has developed at an altitude of 6,100 ft on the Grandes Rousses Massif. Pic Blanc, the highest point of this massif at 10,922 ft, has a panoramic view awarded three stars in the Michelin Guide. Alpe d’Huez is one of the best departure points for many excursions on the west and south faces of the Grandes Rousses, where you can walk or take your mountain bike to discover the 12 lakes of the massif.' Rock climbing, horse riding, mountain biking and fishing are just some of the many activities avaiable to you during the summer season.
Local climbs include Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Galibier, and Col du Glandon to name a few. At the Chalet we have details of all the local climbs, a bike wash area, secure bike shed and all the tools you may need! If you fancy taking part in the famous, ’La Marmotte’ race or would like to enjoy the Alpe d’Huez stage of the Tour De France, then Chalet Ribot is perfect for you! For those looking for a little more danger, Alpe d’Huez and the neighbouring resort of Les 2 Alpes offer all levels of mountain biking tracks. The Mountain of Hell and Mega Avalanche downhill mountain biking races are hosted by both Alpe d’Huez and Les 2 Alpes. Open from April through to October, Chalet Ribot is the ideal location for holiday makers wishing to enjoy the many activities in the local area of Alpe d 'huez. From climbing to rafting, horse riding to swimming, there is something for everyone! For those wishing to just lie back and relax, why not enjoy our south facing garden with a glass of wine and a good book!
Winter: Alpe d’Huez (1,860m) offers a lovely ski environment. The south facing slopes catch the sun with 220km of pistes. Beginners can enjoy the well-equipped lower slopes, while more experienced skiers can try out a steep run and slopes as high as they could possibly wish for. The resort also has the longest black run in Europe: the famous Sarenne (magnificent!) with a 2200 meter descent. The massif offers an enchanting panoramic view with a lot of sun thanks to its placement. Resort life is very active and offers many activities such as ice skating, swimming, an indoor climbing wall, night time skiing and night time seldging.
