Home description
A modern building with excellent facilities, FranRick Lodge was built approximately four years ago in traditional Alpine style. It is divided into five self-contained apartments, over three floors.
The Lodge is right at the heart of Vaujany, a truly charming Alpine village, situated just 50km east of Grenoble. With both summer and winter activities to enjoy, it's a perfect retreat from the stresses of everyday life.
FranRick is just 100m from the lifts and cable car that link Vaujany to the surrounding mountains. The brand new escalators - which have been installed to take you to the higher areas of the village, such as the shops, tennis courts and ice rink - are just two minutes' walk from us.
A free underground car park for 200 vehicles is located nearby, with even more free car parking just a short walk away.
Each of the five apartments is stylishly furnished and has its own south-facing balcony with spectacular views of the Grandes Rousses mountains and the Fare waterfall. Many of the bedrooms have their own balcony with gorgeous views over the village and mountains.
And after a hard day of exercise, why not take advantage of our sauna to sooth away your aches and pains. With bathrobes provided, all you have to do is relax!
Meals are taken in the lodge dining room, which also has a large balcony facing the valley.
Then you can just kick back and watch a movie on your apartment's DVD player … or maybe play cards, Jenga, and board games - all of which are provided for you.
All in all, the FranRick Lodge combines the fun of a traditional chalet holiday with the opportunity for quieter, more intimate, moments - as and when you want them.

The Rhone / French Alps / Isere region
The Isère region of France has arguably some of the most breathtaking scenery in the whole country - beautiful mountains, waterfalls, forests, rivers and lakes - it is quite simply a stunning place to visit - winter and summer alike.
Less commercialised than its neighbour, the Savoie region, it maintains a great deal of charm and tradition. Rightly proud of its heritage of courage and bravery during the second world war, the Isère looks back with pride and forward with excitement.
With lots of sunshine in the summer, and even more snow in the winter, the Isère provides a welcome alternative to the more familiar areas of France. Few are disappointed by their visit here.
Alpe d'Huez / Vaujany area
Vaujany has immediate access to some of the best skiing and boarding in the Alps - both on and off piste. With over 240km of pisted runs and a huge selection of off-piste to choose from, there really is something for everybody - complete beginner through to accomplished exert.
Our nursery slopes are quiet, and separated from the main pistes, so beginners can build their confidence and practice their technique away from the faster, more able skiers.
With 3 parks for freestyle skiers and riders, you can even perfect your rail-grinding, jumping and grabs here!!
In the summer-time, life can be more relaxing - or equally as energetic, as you prefer! With mountain-biking, hiking, cycling, tennis, archery, swimming, paragliding, fishing, canoeing, triathlons etc etc you may find it hard fitting it all in! Or, you can simply relax, and watch and the world go by in some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps.
Vaujany has an award-winning village crèche, that provides welcoming and expert care for up to 40 children from 6 months through to 6 years of age.
There's also a superb full-sized indoor swimming pool, along with a spa and jacuzzi. Plus, in the winter time, there's an open-air ice rink, which in the summer, is used as tennis courts.
Vaujany doesn't claim to have 24/7 night life - but instead offers something more sophisticated and relaxed. There's a good selection of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants here - catering for most, if not all tastes - in fact, there's everything you could ever need!
It's a perfect combination of the traditional way of life in the Alps and a modern approach to hospitality for the more discerning visitor.
How to get there
The nearest airport to Vaujany is Grenoble St Geoirs (GNB), which is also known as Grenoble Isère. The airport is about 1.5 hours away from us by road. Many budget airlines fly to Grenoble, including EasyJet and Ryanair.
Chambéry Savoie (CMF) and Lyon (LYS) airports are also accessible, being 2 and 2.5 hours away from us by road. These airports are also served by the main budget carriers.
Vaujany is approximately eight hours' drive from Calais. Take the A26 Motorway towards Reims and Troyes, then follow the signs to Dijon, Lyon and Grenoble. From Grenoble, take the RN91 towards Briançon and then Vallée d'Olle to Vaujany.
To get here by train, you'll need to go from Paris (Gare de Lyon) to Grenoble, which takes about 3 hours by TGV. From Grenoble, there is a regular coach link to nearby Bourg d'Oisans, which comes directly to Vaujany during the French school holidays.
