About the home

This traditional Andalucian Cortijo has been renovated to the highest standard and has views to Alora´s ancient Moorish castle. Only 2 mins walk to local shops, bars and restaurants. 5-10 mins walk to Alora train station with direct line to Malaga and on to the Costa Del Sol beaches plus links north to Seville , Madrid and Barcelona. The property has been stunningly converted to offer quality holiday accommodation to today´s expectant traveller. Inside, there are 5 bedrooms, one of which has luxury en suite facilities including spa / body turbo shower system, a very spacious living room with 42 inch Plasma TV and Nintendo Wii plus dvd and video players along with satellite TV. 3 receptions. massive dining hall, fully fitted kitchen and a total of three bathrooms. The property has an abundance of charming traditional andalucian features, such as exposed brickwork, original exposed beam ceilings and rustic furniture. Air conditioning is in the living room and bedrooms 1 and 2. All other main rooms have ceiling fans. Outside there is an extremely spacious terrace with 9 x 5 pool , 3m x 3m covered pergola, sunloungers, outside dining table with seating for 8 people and a very large garden area with its own lemon grove. There is FREE broadband wireless internet in the property for those who just need to keep in touch with the world !

Please note, unlike many inland properties, this villa is situated close to a normal road, making driving, finding the property and getting out and about, very easy and convenient. There are no mountainous roads, or dirt tracks to negotiate, which means you are unlikely to suffer some of the damage that occurs to cars when you rent a property "up a mountain" !!

Local outdoor activities include hill walking, bird watching, mountain biking, quad biking, and horse riding. The villa is the perfect base for touring the very best of Andalucia and for visiting the many excellent restaurants in the surrounding area and the beautiful lakes of El Chorro are just a short drive away or 7 minutes by train. We are approximately 30 minutes from Malaga airport and the Costa del Sol beaches or the cosmopolitan city of Malaga

The interior of the property has been carefully restored in traditional Andalucian style but has the benefit of modern kitchen appliances, air conditioning, double glazing etc. The property oozes charm and style and the fixtures and fittings used are of the highest standard. Broadband wireless internet available. 42 inch Plasma TV and Nintendo Wii in the property. The house differs from traditional holiday lets in that the quality of the furniture and the fixtures and fittings are first class. All the interior and exterior fittings have been designed for a permanent family home and not just cheap items put in to satisfy a quick rental. If you are looking for some refinement, charm and character, this is the property for you.

A fabulous 9 x 5 swimming pool with roman entrance steps is surrounded by a magnificent terrace which has been tiled in traditional terracota style. There is ample room for sunbeds along with three sets of outdoor tables and chairs. The pools has lighting surrounding it and internally to create a beautiful atmosphere in the evenings. The property is fully fenced and has its own private secure entrance gates. The garden area runs naturally leading to your very own lemon grove.

The Andalucia / Malaga Province region

Explore the stunning Andalucian countryside or visit some of the other nearby whitewashed villages and hill towns offering a wealth of excellent restaurants, bars and shops. Maybe a day out at the Casabermeja Spa offering therapeutic treatments and spa facilities is your pleasure ? El Chorro Gorge and El Torcal National Park can be reached in 15 mins by car. Why not take a trip to nearby Marbella and the world famous cosmopolitan capital of chic - Puerto Banus. There are also numerous beaches in this area including a nudist beach at Cabopino........if you dare ! There is also the opportunity to take part in various watersports such as watersking, paragliding, wakeboarding, windsurfing, deep sea fishing and speed boating.

Get out and about as you are within easy reach of the mountains and sea, this fabulous property is only five minutes by foot or 2 mins by car to the local rail station that offers an air conditioned service direct to either Malaga or El Chorro. Train journeys are short and take only 10 minutes to El Chorro or 25 minutes to Malaga and its abundance of shops and beaches. From Malaga, you can get connections to Fuengirola in the Costa Del Sol or further afield to most major cities in Spain. If you fancy a lovely, chilled day in the heart of stunning surroundings, you couldnt do much better than a trip to El Chorro National Park. Its a beautiful location consisting of an amazing and surreal gorge cut through limestone peaks by the River Gaudalhorce with some spectacular lakes and dams. The National Park has plenty of unspoilt and amazing natural scenery, a fantastic contrast to the hustle of Malaga city or the regions coastal resorts.

If this seems like too much hassle to you, then why not relax on the terrace or sip a drink by the pool and gaze over the andalucian countryside.

The Alora area

Alora was once an ancient Moorish stronghold and today the original Moors castle is still standing and open to visitors. There is also a huge church in the lower square of the village that holds the annual Semana Santa festival. The village has many interesting place to visit.

In the town itself, there are numerous bars, restaurants, spanish ventas, tapa bars, wine bars, and a few night clubs to satisfy most tastes and requirements. Should you require any shopping, again you will find a variety of shops to take care of things from clothing to diy and supermarkets to art and crafts.

If activity is your thing, there is rock climbing, mountain walks, horse riding, tennis or golf nearby.

Tour the white washed hill towns. There are several facinating car tours you can quite easily take to the whitewashed hillside towns like Ronda and Antequera, but still be home by tea-time. Granada and spain´s most visited attraction - the world famous Alhambra is only an hour or so away. This can be combined with a visit to Nerja and a visit to the truly stunning Nerja Caves ( Cuevas de Nerja). Alternatively why not drive to Gibraltar for the day and see the famous apes. This piece of paradise is well served with low cost regular flights to Malaga Airport and from the villa you will be ideally placed to explore the true beauty of traditional Spain as well as mingle with other sun seekers on the coast if you wish to take a day out at the beach. Alora itself boasts numerous traditional Spanish bars, restaurants, tapas bars, cafes and even a good old Chinese Restaurant. Visit the true Spain and find Villages where time seems to have stood still.

Also within easy reach are Malaga with its newly opened Picasso exhibition as well as excellent shopping, tapas bars and restaurants.
Granada is 90 mins away with its unique Alhambra, Rhonda (60 mins), Cordoba, famous for its Mosque and Seville with its stunning old town (2 hours) are all worth visiting along with El Torcal, prehistoric landscape Antequera (40 mins)

How to Get Here

It's approximately a 30 minute picturesque journey from Malaga Airport by train, car/cab/taxi or bus. (35km). Alora is set in an idylic location with access to the beaches of Costa del Sol, natural lakes, the cosmopolitan city of Malaga or venture on to the playfroung of Marbella and Puerto Banus.

Flight from the UK to Malaga airport are numerous. From Glasgow, Edinburgh, Doncaster, Leeds, Manchester, Luton, London, Liverpool, list is endless. You can get cheap flights from most airports with Monarch, Easyjet, British Airway, Thomson, Jet2 etc

At the airport, there are always cabs/taxis available outside the airport. Alternatively you can hire a car from www.avisrenatacar.co.uk www.carjet.com www.europacarhire.com www.recordrentacar.com www.hertz.co.uk or rent a car from one of the many more car rental companies. A selection of these companies are based right inside the airport. You can book before arrival for better prices, or even book when you arrive, as there are always cars available. You can get the train from Malaga airport to Alora (1 connection in Malaga) and then a cab (under 2 minutes) from the station to the villa, or 10 minute walk. Alternatively you can get the bus straight to Alora from outside the airport. You will need to get off the bus at Barriada El Puente (stop next to the roundabout outside a business called Riego;s. From there, it is just 2 mins to the villa. Trains and buses run regularly from the airport to the town.

“Perfect family getaway. Sun, gorgeous villa, private pool - Absolutely outstanding !"” We visited Alora for the third time and had a great stay in this truly wonderful villa. The fixtures and fitting are first class and with the beautiful pool , it really was a great family holiday/ Transfer time from Malaga airport is approx 30 - 40 mins depending on traffic and once you are on the approach road to Alora, it just takes your breath away with the stunning scenery, mountains, view to the castle in the distance. I would never tier of this sight if I lived here. The villa had everything we needed from the essential hair dryer, to free wii console ( kids always take their own games everywhere, sky tv, and possibly the best bit of all for us - FREE broadband and wireless internet - which was fantastic considering many other places either don't have it or would charge a silly price for it., The air conditioning was great but we didnt use it much as we found the ceiling fans to be enough - although in July / August, I would imagine this to be really useful. Locally, there were good little tapas bars, cafes and restaurants to go to and in the centre of Alora there were many many more places to go including a good old chinese restaurant and pizza restaurant. If you like driving about, I'd recommend going to the Wolf park ( about 40 mins away) , El Chorro (10 -15 mins) or just drive down to the coast and sit on the beach. Our family had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
