Home description

A very private and beautifully furnished 3 bedroomed finca designed with relaxation in mind. Take time to enjoy Finca Leria, a lovingly restored farmhouse set in 1/2 acre of Mediterranean gardens with private 9 x 5m pool. Surrounded by its own orange grove, the finca provides the perfect location to just chill out.

There are many individual spaces outside and inside the farmhouse where you can do your own thing. Swim, read, listen to music - and later, as the sun goes down, enjoy a game of boules whilst taking in the views across the valley to El Chorro. Relax in the sitting room, with comfy sofas, wood burning stove for cooler months, satellite TV, cd and dvd players, and plenty of books.

When the sun has gone down, why not create your own gourmet BBQ dinner, open some wine, sit back in the candlelit courtyard and enjoy the starry, starry sky before retiring to your ever so comfortable bed. Perfect ..... and all just 2km from Alora!

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

The province of Malaga is one of the most beautiful in Andalucia. Drive inland from the fascinating city of Malaga itself and you enter a world entirely different to the hustle and bustle of the coast. Alora is a 40 minute drive inland.

The amazing cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba are each about a 2 hour drive from the finca and each one is truly worth an early start for a captivating day trip.


Alora area

The finca is ideally situated to explore inland Andalucia. A mere 20 minutes from the finca is one of the area's natural wonders, the deep rugged canyon of the Rio Guadalhorce, known as El Chorro. Absolutely breathtaking scenery. A little beyond El Chorro are 3 stunningly beautiful lakes bordered by pine forests. A tranquil retreat where you can swim, fish, or hire a pedalo from the lake shore. There are a selection of restaurants, some offering fantastic views.

Just 30 minutes from the finca, in the picturesque village of Carratraca is the 5-star Carratraca Spa, part of the Ritz-Carlton group and offering "serene settings for relaxation and renewal".
The historic town of Antequera is a 40 minute drive from the finca - "Malaga and the Costa del Sol may be less than half an hour's drive away to the south, but the unique town of Antequera feels a world away from the excesses of the kiss-me-quick coast, and provides one of the region's historical and architectural showpieces" from Time Out Andalucia.

If you venture to Antequera you really ought to take time to visit El Torcal and experience its pre-historic atmosphere, created by mountains that have been gnarled, serrated, splintered and fractured over 150 million years to create weird shaped rock formations.

A BBQ, a moonlit walk, and howling wolves! About 35 minutes from the finca, on the road to Antequera, is this fascinating place, Lobo Park. Run by wolf lover, Daniel, and his team this unspoilt wolf park is home to 4 types of wolves - European, Timber, the rare white Alaskan Tundra wolves and Iberian wolves. One of the most fun things to do is to go on a 'howl night' and literally, howl with the wolves!

The well established beautiful landscaped gardens are on slightly different levels and have been designed with a mixture of fruit trees, palms, English roses, geraniums, passion flowers, lilys, san pedro for scent - and even a grass lawn! The freshwater pool is totally secluded and is 9 x 5m with Roman steps at the shallow end (2m deep end), and comes complete with sun loungers and shower. The shaded area close to the pool is furnished with chairs and is ideal for relaxing out of the sun. The front terrace offers a large dining table, ideal for breakfast and lunch. The enclosed courtyard dining area is also furnished to the highest standard with an Indonesian teak dining table and very comfortable reclining chairs, a gas BBQ and a small pond with goldfish. At the rear of the house is a full size boules court and viewing terrace with views across the valley to El Chorro.


Further details

All bed linen and house towels are included. Weekly cleaning and linen/towel change.


Conditions

A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking. The full balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival. And additional £275 damage deposit is payable with the final balance (returned within 2 weeks of departure, where no damage occurs). All payments to be made by bank transfer, cheque or PayPal. Where Pay Pal is used the compulsory 3.5% PayPal surcharge will be added to the total cost.

Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are asked to check out by 10.00am on the morning of departure, and new arrivals may check in after 4.00pm. Changeover day may be negotiable outside of high season.
