The Andalucia region
Andalucia is one of the warmest regions of Europe. It has a temperate, Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters with irregular rainfall.
Malaga city has a host of cultural and historic interests as well as some stunning architecture. The Cathedral and Alcazaba fortress are well worth a visit, as is the Picasso Museum.
The province includes the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol and although the coastal areas are heavily populated and can be expensive, you don't have to travel far to experience a bit of rural tranquility.
From Malaga city follow the Guadalhorce valley northwest of Malaga which becomes more and more stunning as you get closer to the series of reservoirs at the top of the valley.
Travel through Cartama and Pizzara to get to the white washed village of Alora.
Finca Alcubilla is a 10 minute drive from Alora.
Alora nestles between 3 rocky spurs topped by the ruins of a magnificent castle.
Between 1587 -1593 Alora was home to the fabled Cervantes and it is also said to be the birthplace of Malagueno flamenco.
It has a variety of tapas bars and restaurants and, unlike the Costas, dining out is still very cheap and very good.
I can recommend a number of restaurants and bars where English is spoken so no problems when ordering food or drink. There is an excellent local bar/restaurant which does tapas, main meals and wonderful vegetarian dishes.
The village holds a weekly outdoor market, which amongst other things provide a good selection of fruit and vegetables.
PLACES TO VISIT - THINGS TO DO
El Chorro - a magnnificent steep sided gorge is paradise for walkers, climbers and mountain biking
The Medieval citadel of Bobastro; the city of Antequera;Ronda, just a few of the places of interest.
Valle de Abdalajis popular with hang gliders.
Horse riding, swimming, kayaking, fishing and bird watching are just a few of the local activities.

My knowledge of French is very limited as, although I did do French at school, this is a very long time ago. I need not have worried -- you,my guests, were delightful and we managed to communicate very well considering.
You all, individually, or as a group will always be so welcome at the Finca.
I will look forward to seeing you all again Pat x

It is always lovely to welcome returning guests so thank you for making Finca Alcubilla your base for your business meetings.
Autumn here is always a special time, I feel. Long walks along the arroyo are possible because of the cooler weather: the air is fresh and clean and it is possible to build up an appetite for nourishing soups and stews in front of the log burner as the evening sets in.
Hope that your business meetings went well in Malaga; hopefully we will see you very soon again
