It has been sympathetically converted and all the rooms are spread across one level. A private, enclosed garden lends itself to alfresco dining and barbeques in the summer months whilst a wood-burning stove means that you can enjoy all that the area has to offer in the colder months and relax in front of the fire at the end of the day. The cottage is within easy access of many of the region’s attractions, such as The National Trust’s Craigside House and Gardens and boat-trips to the famous Farne Islands.

The Northern England / Northumberland region

Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages.
Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster. Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
The Alnwick / Wittingham area
It boasts long sandy beaches, quiet friendly villages, the Simonside and Cheviot hills, well preserved medieval Castles, and the famous Alnwick Gardens. There are numerous Stately Homes in the area including the fantastic Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and is often referred to as "The Windsor of the North". It still retains many of its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and fine stone buildings which now house a range of specialist shops and family businesses. The Alnwick countryside is a superb area for walking, short and long hikes, cycling, fishing, and a whole range of country pursuits.

The location was perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday. The owners were on hand to advise on places of interest to see. We had a busy but enjoyable time and we would recommend the cottage and Northumberland to all.

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.
Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.
"Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
