Home description
Located at the end of a terrace of three, near to the owners’ farmhouse, the cottage has been recently modernised and offers comfortable accommodation equipped to a high standard including three bedrooms, fitted and well equipped kitchen; large sitting room, and French doors which open on to a large shared lawn, ideal for children to play in.
Northumberland's stunning countryside and lovely sandy beaches are within easy reach, as is the pretty coastal village of Alnmouth which offers a range of attractions and amenities. The owners welcome guests to visit them at the farmhouse, and this and the wonderful surrounding area make Stephen’s cottage a welcoming rural retreat for visitors whatever your interests, at any time of year.
The Northern England / Yorkshire / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages.
Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster. Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
Alnwick / Alnmouth area
Alnmouth is a delightful resort four miles east of Alnwick which is popular with golfers and holidaymakers in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Situated on a narrow spit of land between the North Sea and the River Aln, Alnmouth was originally the port for Alnwick. The area is now a beautiful and unspoilt region which offers plenty to its visitors including a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants; a superb
