Home description
The cottage is built of traditional stone and has been renovated and refurbished to an extremely high standard. The cosy and comfortable accommodation is ideal for a small family or group of friends. The sitting room/dining room is on the first floor, in order to make the most of the spectacular scenery, and features a window seat in the large bay window. On the same floor is the very well-equipped modern kitchen. The cottage’s two spacious bedrooms are on the ground floor. The cottage is an enjoyable base from which to discover the many delights of Northumberland.
The Northern England / Yorkshire / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike. Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages. Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster. Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
Alnwick / Alnmouth area
The delightful village of Alnmouth can trace its history back 4,000 years to its beginnings as a Bronze Age settlement. The thriving community of today offers a warm welcome to visitors and the many local attractions include seemingly endless sandy beaches, a superb links golf course, fine rivers for fishing and a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Alnmouth is four miles from the busy market town of Alnwick and its magnificent medieval castle. Used as a location for films including Harry Potter, Alnwick Castle is complemented by the vibrant landscaped gardens, with a shop, restaurant and cafe, created by the Duchess of Northumberland and first opened to the public in 2002.

Very nice cottage. Cottage was lovely and in a great location. Had lots of info/board games which was a nice touch.
