Bucklaw Cottage is situated in a rural location on a converted farm steading which dates back to the 1850's. This beautiful barn conversion has recently been completed to very high standards and now offers very light, bright and airy accommodation for two people. Tastefully furnished and providing extra touches such as fluffy bathrobes, fresh flowers and a welcome basket. We offer a beautiful colour palette to reflect a beachy theme in our décor. Think New England- The Hamptons! Situated in a courtyard setting gives a feeling of seclusion. Northern England region

We are perfectly situated to enjoy the magic and mysterious ancient kingdom of Northumberland. A short drive away is the stunning Heritage coastline of Northumberland, featuring 30 miles of spectacular beaches, featuring long sweeping sands, backed by dramatic rocky cliffs or sweeping sand dunes. Visit picturesque retro fishing villages where you can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the seals or puffins, or walk the pilgrims way to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, birthplace to the Lindisfarne gospels. You will find castles and stately homes galore; In fact there are more castles here than in any other English county. Slightly further afield from Bucklaw Cottage you can discover Kielder Water and Forest Park, which won gold award in Visit Englands' best tourism experience category (2013). Here you will discover the biggest manmade lake in Northern Europe, and a landscape of jaw dropping natural beauty, offering outdoor experiences like cycling, forest trails, watersports and horse-riding. Here you will also discover why the vast skies above Kielder Water and Forest Park have recently been declared the darkest in England. There are 570 sq miles of night sky, free from light pollution which offer a breathtaking starry sky experience, and a chance to see the northern lights at certain times of the year. On a clear night you can see the milky way with the naked eye. Also visit the stunning landscape of Hadrians Wall, the longest ancient monument in Britain. The national trail stretches 84 miles from coast to coast with fortifications and visitor centres along the way. Cycle, walk or drive from point to point.

Alnwick

A few minutes drive away is the beautiful market town of Alnwick, home to the world famous Alnwick castle, filmed as 'Hogwarts' in the first two Harry Potter films. Wander the historical grounds, visit the sumptuous interiors and enjoy the many exhibitions and outdoor events scheduled throughout the year. Visit the beautiful Alnwick Garden, with its exhilarating water features, also home to one of the worlds largest treehouses, perfect for a unique dining experience. Alnwick is also home to 'Barter Books'. Housed in the old railway station, it is one of the largest secondhand bookshops in Britain. Alnwick itself provides many quirky and original shopping and dining experiences, and it is a pleasure to wander its cobbled, ancient narrow streets and admire the architecture. Alnwick of course offers the usual facilities of a good town including supermarkets, leisure centre and theatre. We have the added benefit of being situated only a short drive to the pretty village of Alnmouth- with its stunning coastline. The village is a starting point for many excellent walks along superb stretches of coastline. For golf enthusiasts the second oldest golf course in England is situated here. In Alnmouth you will also find a mainline station running routes to Edinburgh, Newcastle and Kings Cross. Why not fit in a visit to Edinburgh? Only an hour on the train. Or you can be in Newcastle city centre in 30 minutes.
