Northern England region

Explore mile upon mile of gloriously uncrowded golden sandy beaches and stunning countryside set amongst two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rugged Northumberland National Park. Discover more castles than anywhere else in England, the birthplace of English Christianity on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the historic World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, stunning Alnwick Garden picturesque towns and villages and much more.

There are plenty of golf courses and lots of activities and some great walking.

The charming village of Embleton dates back to pre-medieval times, and its fine Norman church, the Church of the Holy Trinity, was built in the 12th century. In recent years, a Heritage Trails Project has been set up to explore the history of the parish, and its well-designed walks range from a stroll round the village to a six mile route along the coast and inland. Golfers can enjoy playing on a number of different courses in the area, and the area is famous for its wide, sandy bays, dunes and beaches.

Embleton has a local village shop which is open seven days a week (Spar) and a post office plus a petrol station. There is a good selection of places to eat and drink in the village of Embleton as well as the many surrounding villages nearby. There is an 18 hole links golf course, a long sandy beach with dunes to explore and the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle to the South. To the North you'll find Low Newton where you can enjoy a spot of lunch at the Ship Inn followed by a stroll along the beach or you could try sampling one of their very own locally produced ales.
