Old Barns Cottage on the edge of the picturesque village of Warkworth comfortably sleeps a family of five in three bedrooms, making it one of the ideal holiday cottages in Northumberland. Having recently undergone a major facelift it is now a stunning, with excellent sized bedrooms and roomy kitchen/diner.

Old Barns has a large conservatory that offers superb views across the countryside. The interior is extremely fresh and comfortable and includes all modern facilities.

The Northern England / Northumberland region

The northerly county of Northumberland is a hidden gem of totally unspoilt countryside and wonderful long stretches of pristine sandy beaches.If you want to stretch your legs and breathe in clean country air this is the place for you, with miles of wide open spaces and magnificent views. The county has three distinct sub regions; a coastline stretching some forty miles with quiet sandy beaches and pretty coastal harbour villages. Inland visitors will find dramatic rolling moorland and forests, much of which is National Park and to the south of the region is the famous Hadrian's Wall which runs coast to coast and is now a World Heritage Site.Apart from Northumberland's natural assets the county is steeped in history and has had a turbulent past which is characterised by more than its fair share of castles and ancient hill forts, some of which were built to repel Viking invaders. It was also the scene of the border wars and conflicts between the English and Scots in the 14th-16th century.

The Alnwick / Eglingham area

The cottage has the added bonus of being less than a mile from the attractions of Warkworth with its magnificent castle dominating the centre. Potter around the galleries and enjoy a drink at one of the many cafes or pubs, before a walk along the banks of the River Coquet or the windswept dunes of the Heritage Coast. There is an abundance of golden sand to satisfy every child, big and small.
Explore the attractive fishing port of Amble only two miles from this Northumberland accommodation and take a boat trip to Coquet Island from the pretty harbour. The nearby ancient town of Alnwick is also accessible from Old Barn Cottage, with excellent leisure facilities, a stunning castle, magnificent gardens with cascading waterfalls and historic treats, or for those seeking city life Newcastle is just a short drive away.
