The cottage has been very recently redecorated and refurnished to provide a very good standard of accommodation for a family or group of up to six people. The cosy sitting room comes complete with an inglenook open fireplace (for burning logs), Freeview TV, DVD and CD player and the elegant dining room is furnished to a very high standard. Upstairs there are three bedrooms; the master bedroom has a small nursery leading off, with travel cot.
There are two further bedrooms to the rear overlooking the back garden and village bowling green. With a fully equipped kitchen with oil fired Aga cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, this cottage offers all you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay near the Northumberland coast.

Alnwick / Lesbury area
Close (15 minutes drive) is the historic town of Alnwick with its castle well known to Harry Potter fans, and the creative Alnwick Gardens with cascading fountains and Tree House. The town also hosts international festivals of dance and music, has good food from delicious fish ‘n’ chips to classy restaurants. Attractions include galleries, a pottery, the House of Hardy fishing museum, Alnwick Playhouse and the famous Barter Books situated in the old railway station.
Northumberland is blessed with a wealth of natural attractions – a wonderful mix of rolling hills, rugged moorlands, gentle valleys, rivers, and glorious Heritage Coastline. Activities include horse riding, climbing, walking, fishing, boat trips, visits to the many other historic castles, including Chillingham, stately homes and gardens.
Also recommended is a visit to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the wild cattle of Chillingham and fishing ports of Seahouses and Amble. There is so much to do and see, it makes the location an ideal base for a relaxing, enjoyable holiday.
How to get there
From the South:
Continue on the A1(M) past Newcastle and Morpeth following signs for Alnwick. Take the exit road for Alnwick and at the roundabout go straight over past the garage; continue on following signs for Alnmouth/Alnwick (1068). At the roundabout next to The Oak Inn pub turn right and follow the sign marked Ashington (1068) follow this road until you see a sign marking the entrance to Lesbury village. At the next roundabout turn left into the main street, carry on just past the Coach Inn pub. End Cottage, 4 Garden Terrace is the end cottage on the terrace on the left hand side next to the church hall.

Further details indoors: An elegant but cosy sitting room, overlooking the front garden is comfortably furnished, with an inglenook open fireplace (for burning logs), drinks cupboard, television with Freeview, DVD, CD player and a telephone for incoming calls.
The separate dining room with traditional welsh dresser, long case clock and seating for six, also features a stone Inglenook fireplace, adorned with brasses. The pretty, well equipped kitchen is warmed by an oil fired Aga cooker (which also heats the hot water), and includes a large fridge, small freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The boiler, when needed, heats radiators. The small oval table is a great spot for board games and writing your postcards.
Upstairs there are three double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, two fitted wardrobes, a chest of drawers, and a wash hand basin. A small nursery leads off, with a travel cot. The second bedroom has two single beds, fitted wardrobes, one full length mirror, wash hand basin and a chest of drawers. The third bedroom, to the rear, features exposed beams and has two single beds and a chest of drawers. A WC with hand basin, and an airing cupboard are on the same level. Both rooms look over the back garden and village bowling green.

Living Room : Comfortable sofas, Inglenook open fireplace for burning logs, drinks cupboard, Freeview TV, DVD player, CD player, books and games. Dining Room : Traditional welsh dresser, long case clock, table and six chairs, stone Inglenook. Cleaning/towels/ linen : Duvet, linen and towels are provided. Changed weekly for two week or longer stays.
Further details outdoors: The front garden, with roses over the door has two areas of gravel surrounded by borders filled with shrubs and flowers. A back porch for coats, boots etc leads to the rear garden which is also gravelled, and has a seating area for al fresco feasting and barbeques set amongst pretty pots and shrubbery.
Lavender Cottage is situated in the heart of the pretty village of Lesbury in Northumberland. The village is on the River Aln and is around 30 minutes walk to the coast. The village has its own friendly pub which serves good food. There is a local bus service from the village to Newcastle City centre and the local railway station, a ten minute walk away, is on the Edinburgh to London mainline.
