The Northumberland region

This quaint little fishing village was once the haunt of pirates, but today it's quiet charm attracts those who enjoy it's long beaches and estuary walks, or hitting a golf ball around the village course. An excellent selection of pubs and tea-rooms, a quality village store, paper shop and gorgeous gift shop make it a perfect spot to switch off and unwind for a week or two. The beaches are un-spoilt by the tourist masses and yet there are historic castles a plenty, gardens and endless places to visit close by. Just a few hours train ride from London and an hour from Edinburgh and with it's own rail station plus being on a good bus route allows you to leave the car at home if you wish. Endless Castles, stunning coastline, bird watching, walking, almost everything required for a great British break!

Alnmouth

Northumberland remains a magnet for people who hate crowds, busy roads and tourist trash. It's beauty is breath-taking, big skies, endless castles, heritage coastline, islands and wild-life. Inland are the rolling Cheviot Hills, Hadrian's Wall and wild moorland. It is an area of great diversity and a corner of England not to be missed.

"The old post office definitely made its stamp on us!"

We are a group of 8 friends, all of us retired. We usually go away for New Year, however this year we decided to go later. Whilst most of the country was experiencing rain, gales, floods and general bad we… More

It is great to hear that you enjoyed The Old Post Office and of course, Alnmouth and the surrounding area. We try to explain to potential visitors that the house is equipped for winter breaks as well summer holidays. The wood burning stoves really make the house cosy but it is also has excellent central heating for those who don't want to light the stoves. We are delighted to hear that the Games Room was used by "older" visitors and that the table tennis is a success! We hope you will come and stay with us again sometime and thank you.
