Townhouse | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Spacious 3 bed house in Fuentes - above Almunecar, Costa Tropical with 2 stunning pools and panoramic views.
A beautiful and very spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with large sun terrace. Stunning mountain and sea views from this lush urbanisation with 2 pools set above the traditional Spanish town of Almunecar.
The Costa Tropical is the lesser know part and more typically Spanish part of the Andalucian coast, just along the bay from Nerja. Still traditionally Spanish, Almuncar boasts a lovely meandering old town with Moorish castle and has a buzzing atmosphere with many tapas bars and boutiques. The house is just a few minutes away from many beautiful beaches. From tiny coves to long expanses, some served by ''Chiringuitos''(beach bars) and some secluded, there''s something for all beach-lovers tastes.
In the evening you can dine in one of many waterside restaurants along the beachfront or enjoy the atmosphere of the old town''s hustle and bustle - from basic Spanish tapas bars to some of the best seafood restaurants on the coast. Or, if you prefer to relax ''at home'', the spacious terrace has a large buit-in barbeque, comfortable table and chairs with views across the mountains and towards the coast.
The house is approximately 1 hour''s drive from both Malaga and Granada airports. A car is recommended to reach the property and to get around, particularly on warm summer days when the walk back from the nearest beaches or the centre of town can be a challenge.
Beach lovers will be spoilt for choice and those who appreciate the heritage of Spain will love ancient Granada and its world famous Alhambra, the unspoilt white pueblos and many places of interest. Nature lovers are just minutes away from the natural park of Pena Escrita, the beautiful, unspoilt promontory of Cerro Gordo and superb walking in the Alpujarras.

The Andalucia region
Known as the jewel of the Costa Tropical, Salobrena is a whitewashed township clinging to huge rock just back from the shoreline, topped by a Moorish castle and surrounded by lush sugar cane plantations.
Nerja is a lovely popular resort about 20 minutes from Almunecar famous for its Balcon de Europa right in the centre and beautiful beaches. The Nerja caves are on the outskirts at nearby Maro. The attractive white village of Frigiliana built in the typical Andalucian style lies just above Nerja a short drive away.
Granada is one of the classic monumental cities of Andalucia and, at more than 700 metres above sea level, the highest. Without doubt, the principal legacy of the city is Moorish and its most precious jewel is the Alhambra. A visit here should not be missed - it is about 1 hour's drive away.
Sierra Nevada mountains
Just an hour's drive away is the Sierra Nevada national park where the popular ski resort of Solynieve is. This can easily be reached for a day ski-ing.
*Almunecar is a traditional Spanish town on the unspoilt coast of the Costa Tropical. Almunecar town with its many tapas bars, restauants and shops is just a 5 min drive away (20 min walk).
Its beaches include the local Velilla, Pozuelo and Tesorilla beaches. Then there is Puerta del Mar and San Cristobel in Almunecar itself, and then Playa Cabria and La Herradura as you head towards the west including the Playa Cantarriján (nudist beach).
*Founded by the Phoenicians almost 3000 years ago, Almunecar and its handsome Moorish castle sit on a small hill between the mouths of two rivers - the Río Seco and the larger Río Verde.
To the west of the town lies the Punta de la Mona, a pineclad headland sheltering the attractive Marina del Este marina - a water sports base.
*The most attractive part of Almunecar is the old pueblo which is mostly inaccessible by car. Simply wander around its streets filled with boutiques and tapas bars and take in the maze of narrow passageways. Visit the old Moorish castle and gardens.
*Both Almunecar and La Herradura offer a wide selection of restaurants of varying categories and styles. Most are located on the beach (chiringuitos) or near the beach fronts.
Most places offer an economical menu of the day 'Menu del Dia' as an option.
Also part of the Almunecar municipality is the pretty village and horseshoe-shaped bay of La Herradura with a superb long beach and a large selection of chiringuitos (or beach bars). There are also a number of watersports clubs.
The beautiful bay of La Herradura is the envy of Almunecar and one of the prettiest bays along the south coast of Spain, and boasts a 2 km long sand beach.
The village presents a typical aspect of whitewashed buildings climbing the gentle slopes of a small hill leading up from the beach.
Marking the western boundary of the municipality, the huge promontory of Cerro Gordo stands alongside the bay of La Herradura. It has been declared a municipal park that's protected against development. A short hike rewards walkers with magnificent views.
Almunecar has a waterpark which opens during the summer months, tennis courts at Velilla and Horse riding at Taramay.
The town benefits from a dive school at the Marina and there is a paragliding centre.
For golfers, there is a lovely course 20 mins drive away between Salobrena and Motril.
Ski-ing is 1 hour's drive away in the Sierra Nevada.
Walking in the natural park - Pena Escrita, or in the Alpujarras which are the lower foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

"Beautiful spacious house with panoramic views"
Loved our stay here and enjoyed the walk each day down to the beach front.
Walking back up the hill helped to keep me fit as well.
Loved the old town with its boutiques, lots of tapas bars and too many restaurants to mention.
