The Costa Tropical/Granada region
Fuentes de Almuñécar is located on the Costa Tropical, the name by which the tourist area of the Granada coastline is known. It is one of the last unspoilt coasts in southern Spain and due to it's unique micro-dry climate and over 320 days of sun per year, it offers an average year round temperature of 20 degrees.
Basic Information on the Costa del Sol The electricity in Spain runs at 220 volts. You will need to use the standard European two pin plug or a travel adapter, you may need to bring your own as it is not always possible to find them.
Spain follows the metric system of measurement which uses centimetres, metres and kilometres for distances and dimensions, and grams and kilograms for weights.
Spain is used to a stable climate and therefore it will not be necessary to bring excessive clothing. There are likely to be periods of rain from the end of September to November and during March and April in the south of the Spain. This is particularly the case in the Costa del Sol, so it is advisable to bring some form of wet weather clothing during these months.
Protective shoes would be useful although not essential as there are occasional rocky areas on the beach. Shops open at various times and are dependent on the season, during the summer they are normally open from ten in the morning until one thirty or two in the afternoon, and then from five thirty until nine in the evening.
In the main tourist areas during the summer it isn't uncommon for shops to remain open during the afternoons and to close later in the evening, if they do, however, they do not usually open until later in the morning. The opening and closing time of restaurants and other related establishments varies and sometimes stay open until the last person leaves.
Working hours don't vary significantly, banks and the majority of all public administration services only open during the mornings, however essential services are open during the afternoons. There are public lost property offices, but it is usual report lost items at police stations. There is usually a telephone box in the street or in the other public areas. These have instructions for use in different languages, and also an operator service if needed. The main emergency telephone numbers are displayed in public telephone boxes. There are many internet cafes and all have phone booth, you can call home very cheaply.
Travel Information in the Costa del Sol, Spain.
Visitors to the Costa del Sol are not going to have any difficulties in getting about. Coach companies offer routes to almost everywhere.
Bus service in the province is quite ample. In Málaga capital, as well as in main municipalities, a bus-station exists from which numerous private companies operate. The main bus-station is departure and arrival point for all long distance and interurban routes. Routes of less than 30 kilometers start from another important bus stop at Muelle Heredia in Málaga (next to the Port).Daily buses leave for: Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Churriana, Rincón de la Victoria, Portal de San Cayetano and Campanillas. It is also a stop for some of the bus routes that start at the main station. Urban bus service is provided by the public company Empresa Municipal de Transportes that maintains an ample network throughout the capital. Another possibility to discover the beauties of Málaga is onboard the Tourist Bus, which leaves every half hour between 9.30 and 19.30 hours from the Paseo del Parque, the Port, the Post office and the main bus-station. It features two routes: The "Red Route" presents the main monuments of the city and the "Blue Route" leads to the botanical garden of the Finca de la Concepción.
Taxis normally operate inside the city limits and between cities. There are not many illegal taxis in Málaga, but it is always a good idea to be cautious. The official taxis are white vehicles identified with a blue stripe, a green light and have an identification badge with the word TAXI. A badge with the letters SP (Public Service) should also be visible. Fares within the city are calculated with a meter, but all other journeys have a fixed price, which should be agreed upon before setting off.
In the airport of Málaga, major national and international car rental companies offer their services, which can be contracted from your home country by fax or e-mail. In any tourist centre the visitor finds ample information on that topic. There are also companies renting chauffeur driven cars, as well as luxury cars and limousines.
The Costa del Sol does not dispose of a metro, although there is a highly efficient local train service between Málaga and Fuengirola leaving every 30 minutes. There is also a regular train service from Málaga capital to other destinations throughout the province. The visitor finds comprehensive information on all routes in Málaga's train station -Estación de RENFE-.
Almunecar area
In Almunecar, there is an open air market every Friday and a craft and Flea Market on Saturdays. The nearest beach is a 15 minue walk away. Beaches also nearby at La Herradura and Calahonda, for sailing water sports enthusiasts, we have the magnificent marinas of Marina del Este and Motril nearby The Costa Tropical is known for its highly rated Golf Courses. also in close proximity is the Sierra Nevada, which is just an hour away. In winter you can drive to sky resots in Sierra Nevada.
How to get there
A regular bus service runs from Malaga or Granada to Almunecar. Airport pickup is approx 50 euros each way for 4 people. An 8 seater costs around 100 euros each way. We can arrange the best car rental deals for your stay.

La Plaza, “Fuentes De Almunecar” Terms & Conditions
The property is offered for holiday rental subject to confirmation by Michael and Estelle Sadeghi (“the Owners”) to the renter (“the Client”). To reserve the “Property”, the client should complete and sign the booking form and return it together with payment of the initial non-refundable deposit (25%).Following receipt of the booking form and deposit, the owners will send a confirmation invoice and statement. This is the formal acceptance of the booking. The balance of the rent is payable not less than six weeks before the start of the rental period. If payment is not received by the due date, the owner reserves the right to give notice in writing that the reservation is cancelled. The client will remain liable to pay the balance of the rent unless the owner is able to re-let the Property. In this event, clause 5 of these booking conditions will apply. Reservations made within eight weeks of the start of the rental period require full payment at the time of booking. Any chargeable expenses arising during the rental period will be invoiced separately. Subject to clauses 2 and 3 above, in the event of a cancellation, refunds of amounts paid will be made if the owner is able to re-let the “Property”, and any expenses or losses incurred in doing so will be deducted from the refundable amount. The Client is strongly recommended to arrange a comprehensive travel insurance policy (including cancellation cover) and to have full cover for the party’s personal belongings, public liability etc. since these are not covered by the owners insurance. You are also advised to obtain from the post office, an E111 form that enables UK residents to obtain emergency medical treatment in Spain. The accommodation is from Saturday to Saturday. The rental period shall commence at 5.00pm on the first day and finish at 10.00am on the last day. The owner shall not be obliged to offer the accommodation before the time stated and the client shall not be entitled to remain in occupation after the time stated. The maximum number to reside in the “property must not exceed 4 without the owners written consent. Facilities are also available for an infant at no extra charge, such arrangements to be agreed at time of booking. The Client agrees to be a considerate tenant and to take care of the “Property” and to leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period. Although. a final clean is included in our prices, the owner reserves the right to charge for additional cleaning costs if the client leaves the “Property” in an unacceptable condition. The Client also agrees not to act in any way that would cause disturbance to those residing in neighbouring properties. The Client shall report to the owners agent without delay any defects in the “Property” or breakdown of equipment, plant, machinery or appliances in the “Property” and arrangements for repair and /or replacement will be made as soon as possible. The owner shall not be liable to the Client; a) for any temporary defect or stoppage in the supply of public services to the “Property”, nor in respect of any equipment, plant, machinery or appliances in the “Property”, gardens, swimming pools or communal areas; b) for any loss, damage or injury which is the result of adverse weather conditions, riot, war strikes or other matters beyond the control of the owners; c) for any loss, damage or inconvenience caused to or suffered by the client if the “Property” shall be destroyed or substantially damaged before the start of the rental period and in any such event, the owners shall, within seven days of notification to the client, refund to the client all sums previously paid in respect of the rental period.; d) for any accident or damage resulting from access to , or egress from different levels of the “Property”, garden, swimming pool or communal areas. Under no circumstances shall the owners liability to the client exceed the amount paid to the owners for the rental period. This contract shall be governed by English law in every particular including formation and interpretation and shall be deemed to have been made in England. Any proceedings arising out of or in connection with this contract may be brought in any court of competent jurisdiction in England.
