About the home

Situated down a quiet lane off the road between Jete and Itrabo in the Rio Verde valley, about a 20 minute drive from the beach.The villa is set in a peaceful but not isolated location.There are distant mountain views across the valley.

The 9m pool has plenty of space around for lounging or playing table tennis. Swallows swap and bee eaters fly overhead.

The house is very spacious with a large open plan kitchen/diner and lounge. There are 2 bedrooms, a double with ensuite shower room. The second bedroom has a double and single bed and there is plenty of room for 3 people. There is a separate family bathroom, built in a Spanish style.
Our hosts Mike and Jenny will greet you and show you around. The beds will be made up ready for your arrival with towels provided. They also offer a catering service with a wide range of delicious home cooked food delivered to your door!
There are general stores at Jete and Otivar as well as a few local bars and restaurants.
Guided bike tours and triathalon training is available locally - prior booking advisable.

The kitchen is well equipped and there is a barbeque and outside oven available to use. The hot water tank provides hot water as needed.
Airconditioning/heating units in the bedrooms and fans available for use.
Mosquito nets on bedroom and bathroom windows.

Lounge beds are available for relaxing by the pool.There is a outside dining area under the covered porch and also plenty of seating by the pool.The terrace garden has a variety of different fruit trees, so depending on the season you can help yourself to a lemon for your gin and tonic or squeeze some fresh orange juice to have with breakfast. The pool is fenced but we would advice great care with young children as there are a few unfenced drops from the terrace. Regular swimming pool maintenance during your stay.
Indoor and pool towels provided and beds will be made up ready for your arrival.

The Costa Tropical region

The Coasta Tropical is one of the most interesting areas of Spain to explore with it's tropical vegetation and multicultural history . It remains very Spanish and the people warm and friendly. The towns of Almunecar, Salobrena , Motril, La Herradura all within an easy drive

The Almunecar / Jete area

Jete, Itrabo and Otivar each about 5kms away have a selection of bars and restaurants.
Almuncar the nearest coastal town is attractive and a great base.
It has a vibrant nightlife with great places to eat and drink.
There are beaches along the coast at Almunecar,Salobrena,La Herradura and Nerja offering great places to relax and swim. Pedalo and canoe hire available at the beaches.

If you want to have an evening of flamenco and barbeque you could visit the Venta Lunciano on the road from Jete to the Almunecar. This the only permanent tablao in the area but there are often other shows around the town.

Visit the delightful Loro Sexi tropical birdpark,the aquarium and the botanical gardens. The water park on the beach is great fun for all the family.

The nearest golf course is in Motril, 30 minutes away.

The beautiful Alpujarrus area with it's pretty villages and great walking is less than an hours drive away.
Visit Granda a vibrant and interesting city with the Alhambra, a World Heritage site.
The Sierra Nevada and ski area is only 1 hour away.

Pena Escrita zoo with it's cafe/bar and swimming pool is a 20km drive. Set in the mountains with spectacular views. A great place to visit.

The caves at Nerja were only discovered in 1959 and are one of Spain major tourist attractions

Other local activities include canyoning,hiking and mountain biking.

Most people if flying would come into Malaga airport (most budget airlines fly here.)
Malaga is approx. one hour and 15minute drive along the coastal motorway then inland from Almunecar for 20minutes.

Granada is one hours' drive and you can take either the motorway or the old "Goat Road" through the national park with it's spectacular views.

“A real find” A beautiful property used by the friendly owners as their own holiday home and let out to guests when not required - standard well above the average holiday let. House and gardens extremely well maintained and comfortably furnished. Lovely pool. Situated at the end of a track down a steep drive way with great views over the valley. Not too isolated but not overlooked either. Smaller villages only minutes away, larger towns of Almunecar and La Herradura within 30 minutes easy drive, the latter being well worth the trip for lunch at La Gaviota at the far end of the beach only feet from the waves! We had a wonderfully relaxing week and can't wait to go again.

“Relaxing location and excellent accomodation.” This villa has everything you can expect when your at home with the addition of a pool, table tennis table, amazing views, surrounding grounds and fruit trees. Very well equipped and would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to explore the area i.e Almunecar, Granada, Malaga etc and to chill out in the Spanish countryside. It's far enough away from any busy areas but close enough to a nearby shop for the essentials (2 miles away) without it being totally isolated. We went to the Hypermarket in Motril for shopping but there is a large supermarket in Almunecar and plenty of other shops locally. Would suggest the addition of internet access and additional air conditioning units within the property (1 air conditioning unit in the bedroom) to make it 100% complete (weather was very hot during our visit) but does have plenty of free standing fans.

“A wonderfully peaceful villa” Casa Cristina is a beautiful, well-appointed villa in the hills to the north of Almunecar. When we arrived the house was very clean and tidy. Its two bedrooms, kitchen and open-plan living area are very spacious, while the patio, garden and swimming pool have wonderful views of the hills and valley. A car is essential, as the villa is a short distance down a bumpy track, but the village of Otivar is only a short drive away and has a couple of good quality and authentic restaurants and bars. We had such a good time in the early-summer sunshine that we extended our stay by another four nights!

“Quiet, peaceful, well appointed and beautiful Villa.” This villa is simply beautiful, clean and bright and finished to the highest of standards. The pool is a joy to be in and the views down the valley are stunning. The kitchen is the best we have seen in any european villa and the open plan living area works superbly. The position is very peaceful and private and the owners English friends are close by should you need anything at all. A car is an absolute must and you must explore the stunning Sierra Nevada.
