Home description

Casa de las Gaviotas is a private Spanish villa set on the hillside overlooking the historic town of Almunecar. The villa is bright and spacious with a choice of 2 lounges. All the living areas and bedrooms are of exceptional size which makes this an ideal villa for even the largest family or groups of family and friends holidaying together. Everyone can feel feel relaxed with enough space to spend time together or for individuals to take time out in private.
On every side the villa is surrounded by shaded terraces with tranquil areas to sit and read a book or to relax with a glass of wine. The villa is single storey so every room has its own terrace with sea or mountain views and direct access into the private gardens . Extensive lawns surrounded by pretty borders lead you to an oval swimming pool where you can simply relax and enjoy delightful views at every turn. Sunbeds and sunshades are provided around the pool. For guests who like activities there is badminton or boules and a full size table tennis table.

The Costa Tropical/Granada region

The area is known as the Costa Tropical because of the all year round sunny climate. This coastal area begins just after Nerja and is very different from the Costa del Sol. The stunning cliffs of Cerro Gordo shelter some beautiful coves and beaches. The Punta de la Mona is a pine clad headland where you will discover the attractive Marina del Este which offers a range of water sports and pretty harbourside restaurants. Moving towards Almunecar is the pretty horse shoe bay of La Herradura . To the east of Almunecar is the whitewashed village of Salobrena with the peaks of the Sierra Nevada in the background. One and half hour drive will take you to the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada or the beautiful countryside of the Alpujjaras. The historic city of Granada with the amazing Alhambra palace and gardens is just one hour away.


Almunecar area

Almunecar and its handsome Moorish castle sit on a small hill between the mouths of two rivers. Almunecar has managed to retain the atmosphere and character of an old Spanish town with winding narrow streets and tapas bars. Besides tourism, fishing and the growing of tropical fruits remain at the heart of the town's day to day life.
Almunecar has beaches with good facilities - beach beds and parasols for hire, showers and toilets and life-guards in high season. The beach fronts are lined with typical Spanish restaurants and bars serving delicious seafood and tapas.
The town has a water park, bird park and botanical gardens.
There is an open air market every Friday selling Spanish leather goods and pottery as well as bargain clothing.
The first Saturday of each month is the craft and flea market- well worth a browse.


How to get there

Almunecar is situated about 45 minute drive from Malaga airport or just over an hour from Granada airport. Both these airports are well served with filghts from many UK airports and bargain flights are available from airlines like Easy Jet, Ryan Air. BMI baby and Thomson.

Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with full bath and shower. Each bedroom has French windows leading onto the terraces and into garden with either sea or mountain view.

We have double sofa bed in one of the lounges and fold away beds suitable for children up to 12 years. The bedrooms are large enough to easily accommodate these extra beds if needed. If you have a larger party then please enquire.

Travel cots and high chairs are available on request.

Private swimming pool set in large lawned gardens with flower boarders.
The garden is surrounded by a low wall which gives wonderful infinity views but there is a drop over one side of the wall. Supervision of young children needed around the pool and low wall.

Outdoor table tennis provided. Badminton area on grass with net and raquets provided.
Terrace has outdoor dining table and chairs for up to 10 people.

To reserve the villa a deposit of 25% is required.

Balance payable 8 weeks before the holiday.

£200 breakages deposit is also required with the balance and this will be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
