The Costa de Almeria region

The city of Almeria 43 Km from Almerimar is the most Eastern capital of Andalucia, the coast line overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The Almeria area offers something for everyone within a short distance by car including historical towns for sightseeing cathedrals and museums, villages of cave-houses, quaint towns such as Nijir known for pottery making. It is a region steeped in traditional festivities and gastronomic delights.
The coastline boasts beautiful beaches where a wide range of watersports are enjoyed such as sailing, scuba diving, winsurfing and fishing. However the area is also protected for its wildlife and has a designated National Park in the area.
Further inland the Sierra Nevada mountains can be seen, ideal for skiing on the snow covered tops in the winter months. The popular city of Granada is only a car distance away. For the children there is a Mini Hollywood near Tabernas which is ideal for a day out where the Spaghetti Westerns were made in the Spanish Deserts.


Almerimar / Laguna Beach, Almerimar area

The beautiful resort of Almerimar is 35 minutes drive from Almeria airport on the Costa de Almeria overlooking the Mediterranean and backed by the Sierra Nevada. Almerimar hosts the oldest Gary Player designed Golf Course in Andalucia. Other leisure activities include horse riding, watersports including windsurfing throughout the year.

For the less active the marina and yacht harbour offers a beautiful place to sit and relax with a drink or to take boat trip. Bars and restaurants serving a variety of international foods, or local Spanish food surround the marina and provide a fantastic location to enjoy the coastal town.

Meandering through the local craft shops around the harbour or shopping at the local supermarkets make for an ideal self catering holiday and nearby El Ejido provides entertainment such as cinema, shopping and go-karting for the young and old.

Local festivals and celebrations are held throughout the year. For those who have never visited this region, Almerimar provides a wonderful, idealic town for local nightlife and ambience in a coastal setting of Spain.

Almeria is the nearest airport approximately 30 mins to Almerimar. Alternately, the route from Malaga is along some of the beautiful coastal roads of Spain and although this is a longer route it makes for a leisurely drive. Granada takes approximately 2 hours but is the most straight forward route by motorway.

A car is recommended for your visit as the apartment is situated in a quiet area of Almerimar
