The Costa de Almeria region

This part of the Andalucian coastline is made up of excellent beaches, rocky coves, popular holiday resorts and pretty fishing towns. Located in the east of Southern Spain Costa Almería runs from Adra through to Mojácar and it encompasses an array of places to discover.

The landscape in this region varies quite a dramatically, the beaches have clear waters that are ideal for snorkelling, while further inland you can discover the desert-like landscape of Cabo de Gato natural park. This area is great is you want to escape from hoards of people and go on a discovery, seeing the tiny coves and sleepy villages that the bulk of visitors stay away from. However if you want a lively family holiday in a popular resort, then somewhere like Roquetas de Mar would be a good choice. There are some great beaches in the area, as well as many restaurant and bars that welcome people of all ages. Plus there are a number of attractions for the children including the nearby waterpark, which is always a winner.

The Almerimar / Laguna Beach, Almerimar area

Almerimar is situated in the province of Almería, lt's approx 2 hours from the snows of Sierra-Nevada. Almerimar is host to one of Spain's largest marinas with in excess of 1400 berths and a fishing harbour, all surrounded by quaint bars and restaurants . More people each year are discovering the beaches, the sun and the natural beauty of this area. If you are looking for a relaxed way of life, free from stress, in a healthy environment, then Almerimar is for you .Almeria's climate is warm and dry, holding the title of being the city with over 3,000 hours of sun per year.

Almerimar has an 27 hole course just a few minutes in the car. Designed by Gary Player it offers hire of clubs and golf buggies. If you wish you can play golf or snow ski in the morning and then soak up the sun on the beach in the afternoon.

Laguna Beach is a luxury secure complex - ideal for the children. It houses 5 swimming pools. tennis courts, paddle tennis courts and gym with jacuzzi and ping-pong. It has it's own local poolside bar offering drinks & tapas. The grounds are lush and green with plenty of seating areas. The pools are constantly manned by lifeguards making it a safe haven for the children.

There are many places of interest in the Almerimar area. The nearby town of Roquetas de Mar, 30 mins drive away, is more lively. It houses a fantastic water park, the Grand Plaza for shopping and eating and has miles of golden sandy beaches, ideal for all water sports. You can also visit the Tabernas desert - a mini Hollywood setting which was the location for filming many a spaghetti western, Las Salinas salt flats, Cabo de Gata lighthouse, old Gold Mines in Rodalquilar, Las Almoladeras bird sanctuary. The local tourist information centre nearby will assist you with many more sites to visit, maps and much more.
