Elia offers an opportunity to stay in a beautiful property in a select residential area on a private road with no through traffic set in an olive grove .
The property is well furnished and makes an ideal base for those wishing to simply relax or visit the many villages, beaches, historical sites and mountainous countryside in the area.
During the day you can relax around the pool and eat al fresco under the shade of the stone arches or pop to the beachside tavernas for a fantastic locally produced lunch. In the clear Cretan evenings sip your gin and tonic or local wine and watch the sun set and the stars come out from the upstairs terrace or watch the lights twinkling in the villages in the valley below.

The Crete region
The district of Apokoronas in the north-eastern corner of the Chania prefecture at the foot of the White Mountains is one of the greenest and interesting regions of Crete. Within a 20 minute drive are several small beaches, some with tavernas, the ancient fort of Aptera overlooking Souda Bay, Lake Kournas, the island's only freshwater lake, and picturesque villages.
Almerida / Kambia area
The beautiful beaches at Almerida Bay are lapped by the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. There are plenty of beach-front tavernas serving traditional food, small bars and coffee shops. There is a large array of shops, mini markets, tavernas, coffee shops and a watersports centre which offers sailing courses as well as hire of kyaks and wind surfs. There is a taxi service and tourist offices offering trips to Samaria Gorge and Knossos.
Plaka is a small village but there are several tavernas and small shops. Like Kokkino Horio a couple of kilometres away it featured in Zorba the Greek and maintains a traditional feel of a typical Cretan village.

Further details indoors: The comfortably furnished living area has two large sofas a TV and a DVD player. At the back overlooking Drapanos Hill is the attractively tiled, well presented fully-equipped kitchen with a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and full-sized oven with ceramic hob.
The second bedroom has two full-sized single beds and fully fitted wardrobes. French doors lead from the bedroom to the swimming pool terrace. Next to the bedroom is the fully tiled bathroom with a shower, WC and wash hand basin.
The wide staircase leads to the the upstairs terrace. The master bedroom has a full-sized double bed and large fully fitted wardrobes. French doors lead to the private balcony which overlooks the swimming pool and has the most amazing views across the valley below to the White Mountains. The bathroom has a bath, shower, wash hand basin and WC.
At the top of the stairs there is a door leading to the sun terrace where a table and chairs make an ideal location for breakfast overlooking the pool and the mountains. A further flight of stairs takes you to the roof terrace offering views across the bay and the valley.
The house has been designed so that air-conditioning is not required as all rooms are dual aspect. Closing the shutters and leaving windows open with the fly screens down enable air to circulate and cool the property naturally.
Further details outdoors: The beautiful swimming pool area has sun loungers and umbrellas plus other outside furniture and a BBQ. There is an al fresco dining area underneath the stone arches overlooking the pool. The olive trees offer a natural screen and a habitat for birds and cicadias in the Summer.
