Gulls Hatch Cottage is a charming seaside property located in the quaint Georgian village of Allonby (in an area of outstanding natural beauty). This three storey cottage sleeps 4 people in a double and a twin bedroom. Gulls Hatch has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard; this very spacious cottage has a light and airy feel through its stylish decoration.

This cottage is located a stones throw from the beach. Allonby is located between the harbour town of Maryport and Silloth, the village has a long sandy beach, with breathtaking views across the Solway Estuary to the mountains of Southern Scotland. Allonby is a great family desination with: the beach, children’s play ground and the swimming pool with spa and sauna facilities just a short walk away and the many activities and attractions offered by the local area including the ever popular seaside town of Silloth, The Lake District Coast Aquarium, The Wave Centre and The Gincase. Plus not forgetting the more well-known Lake District attractions, such as Keswick and Derwent Water less than 25 miles away.For a nice evening out with a meal we would recommend the Golf Hotel in Silloth just a short drive up the coast.

This property has been independently inspected by the quality in tourism (Visit Britain) and has achieved Three Stars for its high level of maintenance and presentation.Living & Dining Areas: This open plan living area has a living room, dining area and kitchen. The living area has leather chairs, foot stool, coffee tables and television. This area also has a real log burning stove (fantastic to warm up in front of on a cool winter evening). The dining area has dining table and seating for four people.

Kitchen: The fully fitted kitchen comes with everything which you will need including electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, slim-line dishwasher and washer. Gulls Hatch also has a freezer in the cupboard below the stairs and a dryer in the utility area. The kitchen also has a breakfast bar with stools.

First Floor

Twin Bedroom: with two single beds and chest of drawers and wardrobes

Double Bedroom: with double bed, wardrobes and bedside cabinets.

Bathroom: The bathroom has toilet, wash basin and bath with power shower over.

Second Floor

Lounge: The second floor lounge is very spacious with exposed beams, leather seating, television and leather seating (including sofa and three chairs). This room offers stunning vistas across the Allonby bay towards Scotland as well as over the village towards the sea. Access to this room is via the staircase with rope banister.

Unlike the southern and central Lake District the Western Lake District and Solway Coast area is relatively unknown; yet this region has so much to offer. The roads are comparatively quiet and, if you crave solitude, many of them lead to the quiet sandy beaches and sandy beaches in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Cumbria has more than 93 miles of coastline; and at Allonby and Silloth you can enjoy dramatic views across to southern Scotland and the Isle of Man.

The Western Lake District holds a number of surprises; and none more so than the wide vista of beach that is Allonby Bay. Upon approaching Allonby along the B5300 the stunning views are blocked by the sand dunes; but eventually upon approaching the whole horseshoe of Allonby Bay opens up before you. This delightful seaside village is located between Maryport and Silloth and antipiflys what a seaside village use to be; with its cobbled streets, wild ponies on the Beach Green and tame ones to ride on the beach. The village is also very popular for windsurfing and is has a reputation for being one of the best in the North West. Allonby also has a wealth of places to eat and drink with a number of bars, restaurants and café's as well as the famous ice cream shop on the sea front.

One of the best ways to experience the beauty of this area is with an ice cream, on a warm summer's evening with the salty scent of the sea in the air and the sun setting over the Scottish mountains from across the bay. These are the very things which holiday memories are made of.

Also located close by is the seaside destination of Silloth, which has a quaintness and genteel aura. The name Silloth us a derivation of "sea-laths" - a site where the monks of Holme Cultram Abbey drained their grain in buildings called "laths". This seaside town was originally planned as a port for Carlisle, today the town has cobbled streets, a small working harbour, a promenade, a choice of shingle of sandy beaches, 1.5 miles promenade, fun fair, open air market, paddling pool, and an 18 hole golf course.

Maryport is a nautical town is less than 20 miles from Keswick in the heart of the Lake District! This seaside town is a well preserved example of Georgian planning and many fine buildings are dotted around the streets and alleys of this small town. The town also hosts the Lake District Coast Aquarium; designed to portray marine and fresh water fish in their natural surroundings, The Senhouse Roman Muesum, and the Wave Centre; by the harbour a new attraction telling the story of Maryport’s development from the 18th Century to the present day, through a number of different exhibits. The town also hosts an annual Blues Festival in late-July.
