About the home

Twomey's lodge is a stone-built detached cottage, situated 1 mile from the village of Allihies on the Cork coast. The cottage can sleep seven people in four bedrooms, two double (one en-suite), one twin and one single.The cottage contains a family bathroom, a WC with basin, a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with an open fire.The outside of the cottage has a lawned garden to the front and sides and parking for up to six cars.

There is no shortage of interesting things to do and see in and around Allihies. Walk along the spectacular Beara Way, take the Cable Car across to Dursey Island, follow the Allihies Copper Mine Trail to discover the remains of its ancient industry or go for a picnic on one of the beautiful sandy beaches.

The Allihies area

Ballydonegan Beach in one of the many beautiful locations to explore. Allihies has a mine museum and the Beara Way walk passes through the village. Allihies Riding Centre is based near the village and in the summer takes out treks.Dzogchen Beara is a Tibetan Buddist Retreat centre. It sits high on cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with breathtaking views. You can go fishing from the beach or off the rocks. Visit Dursey Island and get the chance to try out Ireland's only cable-car. Castletownbere is 17k and is the leading whitefish port with the finest natural harbour in Ireland.
