"Lovely location, well presented and equipped gite, wonderful hospitality"

The gite is an attractively converted section of an old farmhouse in the Parc de Morvan. The scenery is beautiful, and the nearby lake provides many leisure opportunities. Saulieu, some 15 km distant, is a typically delightful French town. Autun is half an hour away, and was obviously an important city in Roman times. It's wort spending the day there, and taking the city tour. Autun has an 11 hole golf course, which provides more challenges than it initially appears to. Payment is for as many holes as you want to play on the day. The attractive bistro in the club house is closed on a Monday. The whole stay was greatly enhanced by the wonderful hospitality of Geoff and Esme, who had cooked a meal for our first night there.

"Perfect little piece of paradise"

We stayed at Gite la Vigne for a week and couldn't fault it. Geoff and Esme gave us a warm welcome and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They had very kindly prepared a salad supper, bottle of vino and pastries on our arrival, just what we needed after a long journey. The Gite was spotless and there was everything we needed. It was so well equipped and felt like home from home. The location was stunning and only a short drive to the nearest Town, Saulieu, which had a good choice of restaurants, bars and shops. There are so many places to visit in the beautiful area and very easy to get to, not even an hour to the vineyards. Our hosts were extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them, yet they respected our privacy. We would recommend this little piece of paradise very highly. When it was time for us to leave, with slightly heavy hearts, we felt we were saying goodbye to new friends. We would return without any hesitation.

"Wonderful gite and great hosts"

Our week in La Vigne went far too quickly. The gite is superbly equipped and together with the warmth and friendliness offered by Geoff and Esme made for a wonderful break. Set in beautiful and peaceful countryside the gite is well placed for exploring the Morvan. We would highly recommend this gite and wish Geoff and Esme every success in the future. Our only disappointment was that we were unable to make friends with Gerald the cat!

"A haven of calm in hidden France"

Reluctant to write a review, really wanted to keep this gite to ourselves. This is a comfortable gem set in peaceful rolling sylvan countryside. The only man made noise is during the morning rush when three cars might drive by in an hour. The gite is well laid out, clean and comfortable. If you can find any crockery, cutlery, pots, pans or gadgets that are not available for use, then let us know, we certainly couldn't find anything lacking. If the weather forces you from the sun loungers or balcony, then the wood burner will certainly warm you up quickly. It was great having covered parking right outside the door, and the wifi proved useful and efficient.
The Morvan countryside that surrounds the gite is wonderful. An area that seems to have been missed by tourism, so keep it to yourself. A great place to explore, walk, get lost in and find space. Just woodland, hills and lakes. The nearest town of Saulieu is a 15 minute drive away and has all you need for stocking up on provisions, including a nice market (try the ham carved straight off the bone). There are other lovely towns further afield to explore and of course the great vineyards further east.
The outstanding feature of this gite however, is the hospitality of Esme and Geoff who make you feel very welcome without being overly intrusive during your stay. They are always on hand if you need advice about local attractions or routes around the area, nearest Boulangerie etc. If its your first time in France or you are a slightly nervous traveller unfamiliar with the French language, then having Esme and Geoff nearby will be a comfort. They are without doubt two of the nicest people we have ever met, but don't tell anyone.

"Peace in the beautiful French countryside"

Our stay at La Vigne was during the 5th week of our 6 week tour and we were feeling just a tad homesick and it was almost like coming home. Esme and Geoff had not only prepared a warming welcoming meal complete with Crusty Bread and bottle of wine but they rescued us by meeting us 1/2 hour drive from the gite (after our hired GPS failed to deliver) and guided us to La Vigne. Esme and Geoff have become our (F.A.T.S - friends across the seas) and we really appreciated their efforts to make our stay both memorable and enjoyable. The gite was very comfortable and by night in front of the warm fire we could watch TV, chose a book to read or peruse the many brochures and maps available of highlights in the area to plan our next day adventure. Free Wifi was also available to keep in contact with home. Driving on the right side of the road ( and sometimes the wrong side ) was an adventure in itself ! Thank you Esme and Geoff for a great time. We highly recommend your hospitality.

"A romantic cottage set within an elegant setting"

Very clean. Esme and Geoff had the fire made upon our arrival, which was indeed a warm welcome. Lots of activities are available. We went wine tasting. Although it was Easter weekend, there were a number of things to do, places to visit, and villages/towns open for shopping.

"White getaway right in the middle of the Morvan"

Our stay in Esme and Geoff's cozy cottage was a very relaxed one. The gite is close to the nice village Alligny en morvan and the beautiful town 'Saulieu'. There's ample opportunity for nice walks (big and small ones) from the cottage straight into the beautiful Morvan landscape. We made our own dinners in the well equipped kitchen and had many nice hours in front of the fire place. We left with a beautiful white snow landscape and a totally relaxed mind.

"Cozy and comfortable"

My husband and I rented this apartment for a week. It was well situated in the Morvan forest and ideal for a couple. While a bit on the small side it contained all the comforts of home. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed was also very comfortable. A small wood burning stove helped to take the chill out of the late Sept. air. Most importantly, we had a helpful and friendly host in Geoff who assisted us in any way he could! A lovely visit.

"Great value for money in a wonderful setting"

Esme and Geoff are absoloute treasures. There is very little one would need to ask for as they have thought and provided so much in advance of your stay. The fact that thay provide the weary traveller with a meal and a bottle of wine , when you arrive is second to none and in all our years of travelling have never had before. The gite is very clean, full of mod cons , fitted to a high standard and comfortable. A selection of books, games, cards and access to wifi all at no extra cost ensure you have a peaceful relaxing holiday. As to the setting its beautiful and the surrounding areas are well advertised by Esme and Geoff. Its just lovely, as are the hosts who cant do enough to help in any way to make your stay great !!

"only good memories"

We passed a very pleasant stay at Geoffrey and Esmé. Their reception was very cordial. The lodging is very well equipped and is quiet. The
lodging is central to visit the beautiful area of Morvan.
