An imaginatively converted old bakehouse, now housing luxury accommodation just for two people. 2000ft up in the rolling hills and the deep valleys of the Truyere Gorge, this beautiful French country cottage is highly recommended for peace and tranquillity, yet just 5 minutes away is Lacroix Barrez, which has a village store where you can buy fresh bread and croissants daily, making this the ideal location for your own cottage retreat. Two excellent restaurants are in Mur de Barrez 8 miles away. Entraygues, 8 miles away, is an interesting medieval town with 3 markets per week in summer. There are tennis courts in the local village of St. Hippolyte 1 mile away, choice of golf courses about 30 minutes away and a nearby horse riding establishment.
Many of the old features of the Bakehouse have been blended into the renovations, including a most attractive fully vaulted beamed ceiling in the living area, whilst the old baking oven highlighted in the bedroom, conjures an almost dreamlike setting.
The cottage is entered through its own private garden area, which has table and chairs, easy chairs and BBQ, into the comfortable living area with kitchen at one end providing electric oven, gas hob, fridge and dishwasher. Also there is a dining table and chairs and comfortable armchair and settee and a small woodburning stove. Also UK digital TV, and DVD with films. Downstairs the bedroom houses a double bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, WC and hand basin. Linen with duvets and towels are provided. There is also a laundry. Visitors to The Old Bakehouse have the use of the heated 10 x 5 metre swimming pool. It is situated about 45 metres from the cottage and has a pool house with shower, changing room, kitchen and BBQ. Pool towels are provided. There are walks around the 10 acres of grounds.

About this location
The Dordogne region
The Cantal region descends from the breathtaking volcanic mountains in the north down through gorges and river valleys. Steeped in historical interest it has an abundance of ancient sites, monuments, castles, towns and beautiful villages. It is an unspoilt region where visitors can enjoy rural life with clean air and glorious countryside yet still find plenty of activities to interest everyone of any age. The local people are friendly and take great pride in their region's heritage and are always keen to introduce visitors to their treasures whether food, drink, their way of life or the countryside.
Most of our properties are located around the medieval village of Entraygues sur Truyère nestling in the heart of the picturesque Vallée du Lot on the border of the Cantal and Aveyron. Entraygues is in the north of the department (or county) known as the Aveyron, which is one of eight in the Midi-Pyrenees. It is here where the river Truyère tumbles out of the Auvergne and joins the river Lot.
The area is geographically extreme and very beautiful with an enormous amount of views to take your breath away! The climate here can also be extreme, but being sheletered sheltered by the northern and easterly aspects of the Auvergne and Aubrac mountains, part of the Central massif, we enjoy a Mediterranean style climate with cold crisp snowy winters, stunning Springs, long hot summers (although due to the altitude night times are thankfully cool) and long spectaular warm autumns with day after day of blue skies.
Whether you like walking, driving around to explore medieval villages, more sternous activity such as canoeing or horse riding, sampling the delights of the regional cuisine there is something for everyone. All our houses have information on what to do.
With the nearest Auto route 60 miles away and the nearest railway line 30 miles little has changed over the years and the Vallée du Lot remains a haven of peace and tranquillity.
