Nestled within the historical old town of Aljezur is 'Retiro do Forte' or the Forte Retreat, a beautifully restored modern house, set in a quiet area away from the hustle and noise of modern day life, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.

With beautiful views looking out across the fertile fields of Aljezur across to the 'new town' and afar the beautiful mountains of Monchique, the view offers a tranquil setting to listen to the birds, and the hypnotic chorus of cow bells chiming in the fields.

The top floor of the house features a cosy patio at the entrance way, the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast or have dinner under the stars with a herb garden which can be picked fresh for the table. Inside there is a large open plan living area and dining room with ample seating for six people and three huge windows so the panoramic views can be seen at all times. There is a flat screen T.V with cabel t.v and a selection of DVDs and an ipod dock for listening to music. The fireplace area is a nice quiet spot in front of double doors which open to a small balcony, the perfect place to read, write or nap in the afternoon sun.

Adjoining the dining area, the kitchen features all the amenities to make your holiday as 'stressfree' as possible with full cooking facilities and utensils, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and an electronic espresso coffee machine.

Down the red cement stairs there is a beautiful bathroom with spacious shower, toilet and bidet. Next to the bathroom is a large bedroom with extremely comfortable king sized bed with two double doors alongside which allows for the perfect place to have breakfast in bed enjoying the view. There are also large closets with ample space to fit all belongings and ensure a clutter free holiday. The two double doors open out to a wooden patio with an area to enjoy the views and the small garden, or relax in the hammock.

There is also a gas bbq and board rack for storing surfboards. From the downstairs patio are small steps which lead up to the main entrance way, so sandy feet can be washed with the hose before entering the house after a day at the beach.

Discretely tucked below the staircase is a washing machine with movable clothes rack. Linen and towels are provided (excluding beach towels).

Aljezur

Aljezur is a historical old Moorish town situated in a fertile valley with the town positioned on either side of a small river. The town is split into an 'old town' and 'new town'. The old town is built on a hill with the 10th century castle ruins located at the top of the highest point. Retiro do Forte is also in the old town, with views to the castle ruins from the car-park area.

Across the river and fields is the 'new town' which was built in the 18th century and features a large church, Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Alva, and a pleasant town square with cafes and bars.

30km inland to the east is the lovely hilltop town of Monchique where regional cheeses, meats and citrus can be tasted. To the north is the small town of Rogil, 7kms away which features a handful of quiet beaches surrounded by dramatic rocky cliffs, and the picturesque town of Odeceixe, 15km further north.

"Excellent Stay"

Everything went well and we enjoyed it very much.
Only disappointment was there was no Internet connection at villa when the advertisement said there was.
The villa was actually better in real life than the pictures suggested. The Villa was very clean on arrival and everything worked well.
The owners were very welcoming on arrival and helpful with suggestions on things to do and see in the area.
Would recommend this villa to anyone
