The Algarve region

It’s known as the “California” of Portugal by the tourists because of its fig trees, orange groves and almond trees in blossom. This region is also the most verdant and fertile. The southern coastline consists of a long stretch of fabulous sandy beaches, broken up by extraordinary rugged cliffs and fantastic grottoes. Come to discover what each principality city in this region has to offer you and if you think it’s too early to think about the summer remember, that this jewel of a region with remnants of Moorish architecture and white-washed houses books up fast.

If you are a surfer or a golfer you will love this region.

Aljezur is very popular for horse riding and cycling, with some wonderful countryside to enjoy it. From the remains of Aljezur castle, high on the hillside overlooking the town, you get a fantastic view of the town (and it's two halves) and the surrounding countryside. Aljezur is also just a 10 minute drive to some of the best surfing beaches in the Algarve, being on the more exposed Atlantic coast!

"Not Sure..."

This is a beautiful house in a beautiful quiet location and may be great in warmer weather. we were here for the very end of March and start of April during some unseasonably cool, wet weather. House was uncomfortably cool and had an unpleasant 'musty' smell, like it had been closed up damp for some time. Contrary to what website says there is NOT central heat. We had the fireplace going all week, wall heater in the bedroom.
All that said, the house is big, well fitted and in a beautiful setting just outside the small town of Aljezur. I would expect that during the 'regular' rental season (summer) when everything is opened and aired out and heating isn't an issue the place with it's pool would be rated higher.
Owner contacted us from England about leaving house open one day, so the caretaker could show it to someone interested in buying it. I was a little nervous about leaving it unlocked with our goods inside but did accommodate her on this request, which never ended up happening. Then further confusion as to when we were leaving, as she told caretaker we had decided to leave a day early (??). Straightened it out with the caretaker and all was well.
Wifi was also very spotty, faded in & out at all times of the day.

Sorry to hear about your cold stay and yes the house is built for warmer climates however it has got underfloor heating in all rooms so you could of put it on to keep yourselves warm sorry if my caretaker didn't explain this on your arrival, as for the musty smell we had a leek in the back room that had been recently fixed and the damp may still of been in the walls, this is not an issue any more.

"Lovely Villa with fantastic views"

As we arrived at the Villa we were struck with how nice the views were, the owner greeted us with open arms and give us the guided tour of the Villa and grounds.

The rooms were lovely and very spacious and felt like home from home, outside was also very nice and we loved the private pool and sun bathing area, the local town was also lovely and the locals were nice and accommodation even though our Portuguese was awful :-) we found a nice quaint bar by the square where we spent many evening drinking Super Bock and if your after something with more of a kick just ask for Madronia.

All in all a lovely Villa and would definitely go again!
