The Languedoc-Roussillon region

The Languedoc-Roussillon region boasts 300 days of sunshine a year.

It's spectacular coastline and mountains ensure that there are numerous places to visit and enjoy.

It is one of France's largest wine producing regions and there are many opportunities to taste its excellent wines.

The lovely coastal towns of Sete and Meze are just a 25minute drive away where you can savour the locally caught fish and oysters.

The Roman towns of Avignon, Nimes and Arles are just over an hour's drive away to the east with the beautiful walled cite of Carcassonne just 50 mins away to the west.

Alignan du Vent

Alignan du Vent is a typical Langdocian village with it's Boulanger, store and bar. Pezenas ijust 5 mins away, is proud of its associaion with the playwright Molière and during the summer months there are theatre performances of his works indoor and out. Also during the months of July and August all the local shops open until midnight on Wednesday and Friday when it seems the entire area decends on Pezenas, creating a great atmosphere.

Pezenas, with its labyrinth of cobbled streets has many historic buildings, artist studios, brocantes cafes, bars and fantastic restaurants. Pezenas is alive with a flurry of festivals and a Saturday market in the Cours Jean Jaures, the wide boulevard in the centre of Pezenas selling everything from clothes to oysters, and often the time when many locals come out to socialize on a weekly basis.

"Beautiful Setting and Immaculate Property with Plenty of Space"

This is possibly the best week away in Europe we have ever had. The pool was perfect for the kids, and ideal for myself when the weather got too much. The location is fantastic, on the outside of a little village with a boulangerie and cafes. On an evening we often sat out and cooked on the placha, or took a trip to Pezenas to eat, a small historic town about 15 minutes drive away with a vast array of restaurants. If we ever had any issues Alan was more than accommodating and gave us plenty of information on the area and local attractions. I can wholeheartedly recommend this property for families, couples or friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"Home from Home in beautiful France"

The house was absolutely beautiful with everything we needed to relax and have a wonderful holiday. It was privately situated but within easy access to the historic town of Pezenas, supermarkets and the coastal areas.

"Nice but poorly equipped"

This was the cleanest villa rental we've had in seven years of holidaying in France. However, the kitchen was very poorly equipped and we had to buy cereal bowls. There were no large bowls (for salad, etc) and very little in the way of utensils. There were no hairdryers despite the listing stating that there were. Also, the air conditioning unit in the family room did not work and the only other unit was on the stairway. The villa would have benefited from air conditioning throughout as the bedrooms were uncomfortably warm at night. There was one floor-standing fan. Although the listing said that the property was suitable for people of all ages, I would not agree that this is the case. There was a mezzanine floor with a ladder-type stair leading to this. We were told that we were not to use this under any circumstances and that the owner would not accept responsibility for any accidents if we did use it. There was no fence round the pool although this was not really a problem as our two grandchildren (aged 3 and 4) were supervised at all times. There was a large stone which was placed just beyond the verandah at the front of the property. My grandson fell off the step and narrowly missed this. I dread to think of the injury he would have received had his face or head made contact. I would therefore not agree that the villa is suitable for very young children. Having pointed out the foregoing shortcomings, we nevertheless had a pleasant holiday and the villa itself is a very nice property.

Thank you for your feedback which is important to us. With regards to the poorly equipped kitchen and lack of cereal bowls in particular, it was noted by our agent that you requested a toaster which he purchased for you within 2 days and would have also purchased more bowls if you needed them. With regards to no fence around the pool: our pool has a rigid domed cover on during the winter months and if guests request the cover be removed then the pool is fitted with an alarm. This more than complies with French law. However, we would hope that young children would be supervised at all times as they would be at home. We are sorry the air conditioning was not to your approval. We had it tested again in August and is now working perfectly. Thank you once again for your feedback and note that these issues did not spoil your stay.
