LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Altea - 30 mins north of Bonalba, this pretty hill-top village is known as the cultural capital of the Valencian Region and has long been a popular retreat for artists and sculptors;
Beaches: there are 7 beaches from El Campello to Alicante, 10 minutes drive away are: El Campello-a promenade full of bars and restaurants backs this white sandy beach; San Juan- 7km of fine white sand and, with an average width of 90m there is plenty of room for everyone. South of Alicante Arenales and Urbanova are worth a visit.
Benidorm: - two excellent beaches and 5 theme/water parks make this a popular holiday spot for all ages-particularly with Spanish holiday-makers;
Benimantell: Two excellent restaurants: LObrer and Venta la Montana are worth a visit; Busot: 20 minutes inland from Bonalba-the enormous Cuevas de Canalobre - Candelabra Caves - are a must to visit. Calpe -dominated by the Penon dIfach-the largest single rock in the Mediterranean. A two-hour round trip will take you to the top of this nature reserve with its spectacular views, and back.
Elche: home of the largest date-palm plantation in Europe and a World Heritage Site Gata de Gorgos: on the way to Javea-famous for basket-ware and good quality souvenirs. Guadalest: one of the most popular tourist attractions in Spain. Of Islamic origin and the site of several castles. Team this with a visit to El Arca- the rescue centre for exotic animals where abandoned and mis-treated animals are cared for until they are ready for onward travel to a safari park; and a visit to the Fonts d@Algar waterfalls.
Javea: a beautiful beach, working port and old town make this an excellent day trip.
Moraira: elegant former fishing village-there is still a fish auction held daily from Tuesday to Sunday in the Lonja de Pescado (fish market)
Tabarca: the only inhabited island off the Costa Blanca-a haven for snorkellers. Take a glass-bottomed boat from El Campello, Alicante or Santa Pola to see the rich marine life around the coast. The above is just a selection of the many attractions of the Costa Blanca - but, if that seems too hectic for those who simply want to relax, the villa has plenty of separate indoor and outdoor living areas to get away from everyone and do just that!!
