The Valenciana region

The city of Alicante draws many tourists who want to explore its historical ruins, its modern facilities and glorious beaches. There is something for everyone whether you want to relax, party the night away, go shopping or go sight-seeing.

Alicate enjoys a mild climate all year round. The city benefits from around of 2,800 hours of sunshine with an average temperature of 19.3ºC. With fresh air and sunny days, Alicante is an ideal place to visit all year round. As it enjoys more sunshine, the number of rainy days is limited to just 20 per year. Even during the winter time the temperature does not fall below 16° C.

Why visit Alicante? Because it a great place for the whole family.

Many beaches to choose from, watersports, diving, golf, museums, shopping, free live music on the explanade etc.

THE EXPLANADE This emblematic promenade is compsed of 6.6 million colofur marble tiles. Tourists and locals alike enjoy strolling along lazily or sit under a palm tree sipping on a coffee.

EL BARRIO On the skirts of the Santa Barbara Castle and only 5 minutes walk from the flat you will find a historic section of the city with the Cathedral of San Nicolas. A sight day or night. The town hall worked very hard to bring back to its former glory Alicante's oldest neighbourhood, and now you will find stunning architecture, cobble streets, brightly coloured house and little plazas full of bars, caffees and buzzing with excitement.

SANTA BARBARA CASTLE After long periods of Iberian and Roman rule, Alicante was conquered by the Moors in AD 713. It became part of the great estate of Al-Andalus and new ties were established with the vast Islamic Empire. Alicante's name, Arabic for 'The City of Light', is one of the remnants from this period. The Muslim reign lasted until the 13th century. Over looking Alicante City. It's one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe and covers the complete summit of the Benacantil Mountain. Santa Barbara Castle has everything you would expect, cannons, a palace, dungeons, a moat, the ruins of a small church and of course that famous lookout tower. There are various events taking place there throughout the year, such as concerts, shows, museum, fireworks etc.

MARK MUSEUM Forget about dusty pots and boring displays! Meshing the oldest of with the newest multimedia, Alicante's archaeological museum- MARQ- was voted Europe's best museum in 2004.

NIGHTLIFE : relax during the day and go out full-steam at night! With tons of atmospheric taverns, energetic cocktail bars, tapas bars, frenetic discos and everything in between, don't be surprised if you stay out until the sun comes up!

HOGUERAS DE SAN JUAN, our fiestas, celebrated yearly on the 21, 22, 23 and 24th of June. Great big, colorful paper mache sculptures, some as tall as 5 story high buildings, are set on the streets of the city for all to admire. Then on the night of the 24th they are burned down. For these four days, people live on the streets where you find live music and entertainmetn in the streets for all.

The island of Tabarca is located only 11 nautical miles from the coast of Alicante city and it s a must do trip. You can get a small ferry at the port which will take you there. In the past its shores were a refuge for Berber pirates and today the islands waters have been officially declared a Mediterranean Marine Reserve for their excellent quality and for the biodiversity of their flora and fauna

EL PALMERAL Located in the southern outskirts of the city and just beyond the gentle waves of the Mediterranean Sea is the El Palmeral Park. Take a stroll under hundreds of gently swaying palm trees, through colorful flowerbeds, or take a boat out in one of the boating ponds. Pad along the shady footpaths and you'll stumble across other hidden treasures like graceful waterfalls, balmy vegetation, picnic areas, children's playgrounds, quaint terrace cafés and even a cross-country biking circuit. During the summer, El Palmeral provides constant entertainment as part of the Summer in the Parks program featuring musical performances, children's theater, puppet shows and more!

"Exactly what we we looking for and a little bit more."

Fantastic tasteful, spacious and clean apartment with great view and location. You have everything you need on your doorstep. Old town, restaurantes, tapas bars, nightlife, shopping, a beautiful beach and best of all, spanish people. The owner was very helpfull. We can recommend a trip to the castle, walking in St. Cruz, and a trip to the island of Tabarca. For eating, La Taberna del Gourmet, El Portal Taberna & Wines, Cerveceria Rincon de Antonio(St. Cruz), Restaurante El Buen Comer, Pesca al Pesco, Sale y Pepe, and on the island of tabarca, Restaurante Don Jeronimo(close to the church).

"A perfect stay in Alicante!"

The spacious apartment on the 6th floor is perfect situated in the centre of the town with a beautiful view on sea and marina. We liked the three bedrooms, each with bathroom, the great livingroom, the balconny for breakfast and the well-appointed kitchen. And don't forget the privat parking for your car.We really familiarized with the property. Over the years we rent many houses for our trips, but this apartment was one of nicest we ever had. It will be hard to find a better one! We also appreciated the personal touch of Tara, who rented us the property, before, during and after our stay. Thank you. The proces of payment was easy and without problems. We know were to stay in Alicante next time!!!
