The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The apartment is situated in Mutxamel, a small village which was traditionally linked to Alicante and belonged to this city during various periods. It became an independent municipality in 1736. Due to its proximity it became a summer resort for the inhabitants of Alicante, who built the 'Conde de Montemar', the Peñacerrada Palace and other grand mansions.
The Parish Church, with its 14th-century gothic tower, is of particular note. Of all of the villages around Alicante this is the one most closely linked to agriculture and despite its proximity to the capital it still has extensive farming land. The canalisation work and irrigation ditches, and the dams on the Monnegre River, are extremely interesting.
The Alicante / Muchamiel area
L’Orxa to Villalonga
An area of natural beauty with pleasant, easy walks along a disused railway track. You can walk by the river and there are some caves in the mountains. A must if you enjoy walking.

De la Font Roja is a National park with spring waters, easy walking and climbing where you can see the oldest Mediterranean vegetation.

A National park with lots of spring water, good climbing and tracking. In the old days they used to use the caves in this area to store winter ice for the use in summer.
Sierra de Aitana
In the centre of the mountainous province of Alicante lies the Sierra de Aitana. Although close to the Costa Blanca, this area has remained a secret from all but a few discerning visitors. The stunning rocky peaks and steep valleys which sweep down to the Mediterranean coast benefit from a privileged warm climate - days are generally sunny and warm right through the winter. Follow traditional footpaths and mule tracks, mostly along ridge lines, for spectacular panoramic vistas.
Playa de Guardamar
Long sand dunes by beach. Very clean.
Points of Interest:
The Castle of Guardamar
Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology
Park Reina Sofia
Park of Alfonso XIII
Sand Dunes of Guardamar

Point of interest is the Castel of Santa Pola and Cap of Santa Pola and Playa Los Arenales, with its golden sand dunes, however due to all night parties by the beach, these sand dunes are not as clean as Guardamar.
The ‘Garden of Santos’
The „Garden of Santos? is a natural area, situated some miles inland, where nature lovers will discover beautiful walks, stunning mountains and interesting flora and fauna.
Situated next to the village of Penáguila, which can be reached by ascending the mountain roads through the picturesque villages of Orxeta and Sella.

Elche
Set in the heart of the Costa Blanca, surrounded by palm trees yet looking to the Mediterranean, Elx offers a variety of pleasant surprises for the visitor. Its mild Mediterranean climate enjoying fresh sea breezes, its valuable cultural and ecological heritage, its? fiestas and popular traditions contrasting with the industrial infrastructure of the town, with its broad avenues and modern services, all form part of the principal attractions of the town.
Elche in Alicante is known for several large fiestas (Street Parties) in 4th to 9th August which is a lyrical drama from the middle Ages is perhaps the most famous. During the first week of August, Elx recalls the Age of the Re-conquest with its feast of the Moors and Christian.
At Easter there are two celebrations. The first is the procession of the palms on Palm Sunday which dates back to the 14th century. The panorama is from the Alleluyah Parade on Resurrection Sunday.
During this celebration thousands of streamers and religious images are thrown down from the windows and balconies along the procession.
The palm forest of “el Palmeral” , The Palmeral of Elche, a landscape of groves of date palms, was formally laid out, with elaborate irrigation systems, at the time the Muslim city of Elche was erected, towards the end of the tenth century A.C., when much of the Iberian peninsula was Arab. The Palmeral is an oasis, a system for agrarian production in arid areas. It is also a unique example of Arab agricultural practices on the European continent. Cultivation of date palms in Elche is known at least since the Iberian times, dating around the fifth century B.C.

Two enormous salt-water lagoons declared as a National Nature Reserve, in which is maintained a great variety of autochthonous fauna like the Flamingo and Eagle. The township of Torrevieja has a great variety of beaches on which can be enjoyed the Sun the tranquility provided by the fine sand and crystalline waters.
Also, in the bay you have a multitude of coves. The “Isla de Tabarca”, close to the coast of the municipality, which has been declared a Natural Marine Reserve, is may be worth an excursion.
The Island of Tabarca
To the south of the city of Alicante, ten or twelve miles, and near the end of Santa Pola, is the island of Tabarca, with an approximated length of 1,800 meters and one maximum width of about 400 meters with an small village is nice day out, if you like snorkeling and swimming in crystal clear waters.
Multiple transfers, from the port of Alicante and Santa Pola is approximately one hour from Alicante and half an hour from Santa Pola. Also ask to see if you can travel on one the glass bottom boats to be able to see the fish and the marines. The excursion usually is made in the morning, to be able to return in the evening after some snorkeling, swimming in the crystalline waters of the island and tasted the traditional food in one of the restaurants that there are located next to the beach.
Golf clubs
Less than a 10 minute drive from the house are two championship, 18 hole golf courses - Alicante Golf club www.alicantegolf.com and the Bonalba Golf resort & Spa www.alicante-golf.com.
Alicante Golf Club
Alicante Golf course, designed by Severiano Ballesteros, that is an appealing challenge for any novice or experienced golfer. Alicante Golf's 6,270-metre round requires a strategic approach to each hole as well as the use of every club. It is a par 72 course, the two halves of which are so balanced that the second nine holes measure a distance of 3,125 metres. Each comprises three par threes, three par fours and three par fives. This makes it Spain's first course to have the same number of pars, thus providing for a balanced round.
Mention should also be made of its long tees and extensive, luxuriant fairways, beautiful garden zones and spectacular lakes that give players a great chance to enjoy their favourite sport.
Bonalba Golf Club
Bonalba Golf course with 18 holes, a par of 72, and a total length of 6,367 meters (approx. 7,000 yards), was created, as many other golf courses in the tourist areas, as a part of an enterprising Real Estate Project with more than 3,000 houses (villas, apartments, detached and semi-detached houses…), developed by the Grupo
Alicante Urbana.
Bonalba Golf Course is located close to the Mediterranean in the Municipality of Mutxamel, in Alicante (Spain).
The variety of its vegetation, lakes and water hazards, its great number of bunkers and its wide greens arranged in an amusing design made by Ramón Espinosa make Bonalba an interesting and appealing challenge for the amateur golfer as well as for the professionals.
Benidorm
Until the tourist industry began in the 1960s, Benidorm was a small fishing village. Today it stands out for its hotel industry, beaches and skyscrapers, which were built as a result of its tourist-oriented economy.
Altea
Altea one of the most beautiful cities along the Costa Blanca with about 15 000 habitants can be reached using the A7 highway. About 15km north of Benidorm and just south of Calpe, Altea is one of the view villages which maintained most of the former fishing village flair of the past times.
