About the home
Vista Alegre is a property of 14.5 acres (55K sqm), set amidst a pine forest where wild rosemary abounds. A dry river bed rich with birdlife forms the boundary. The estate includes not only olive and almond trees but also figs, pomegranates and both wine and eating grapes. Our olives are harvested and the oil can be bought at the local cooperative.
One of only fifteen masias, (traditional Spanish farmhouses) Vista Alegre is located along the beautiful scenic route between Ibi and Alcoi in the Vinalopo region.
Situated on the outskirts of the charming town of Ibi, with views of the Parc Natural del Carrascar de la Font Roja, this late 19th Century building was lovingly renovated in 2005. Original features have been restored and natural materials used. Wherever possible the walls are part exposed stone and part sand-coloured render combined elegantly with solid wood ceiling beams and tiled flooring capturing the atmosphere of the past

Without even leaving the grounds of Vista Alegre you can choose to rock in a hammock while the scent of rosemary and pine lull you to slumber or grab your binoculars and make tracks to the nature trail in the ravine. All to the background of distant chiming bells courtesy of the local goat herds.
The grounds have been maintained as natural pasture, aside from the landscaped area surrounding the south-facing 15x5 metre floodlit pool (which includes a toddler pool). The pool area not only has unbroken sun all day but unparalleled views over the olive groves to the national park beyond.
Decorated in Moorish style with a cantilevered roof, the adjacent summer house provides welcome shade. It also incorporates a changing room with shower and toilet facilities along with a luxurious lounging area with minibar and music system. A traditional wooden gazebo has just been built to provide attractive shelter over our barbecue area overlooking the olive grove offering an alfresco dining and cooking experience.
The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Costa Blanca is a place that caters for all, from Its stunning picturesque mountain scenery to its beautiful clear blue waters and White sandy beaches.
Known as the jewel of the coastline this marvellous place is also rich in history boasting a number of medieval towns and Moorish villages surrounded by olive groves and almond trees.
This beautiful place is certainly full of activities and interesting history to discover. Offering an amazing cultural experience with an exclusive cuisine to go with it.
Costa Blanca also has many traditional bars and restaurants to choose from, offering exclusive cuisine and a bustling night life as well.
The Alicante area
Vista Alegre is conveniently located near the main road between Alicante and Alcoi. It is an easy 40 minute drive from Alicante airport, served by both BA and BMI as well as low cost carriers (Easyjet and Monarch). The nearest town of Ibi is only a twenty minute walk away (3-4 minute drive).
Ibi has been populated since medieval times (and has a well preserved medieval quarter) and an 18th century ‘new' quarter featuring the beautiful 19th century Church of the Transfiguration. The surrounding mountains contain ancient snow wells once used to store ice for the local ice cream manufacturing business, a long tradition. There is a wonderful daily indoor food market and a more general outdoor market every Monday. It also has a traditional toy-making industry and has a highly regarded toy museum.

We arrived as a family group of 15 and used both accomodations which were outstanding. The property was amazing and Victoria and Jack have clearly worked very hard to retain the character of the house. Outstanding furnishings and decor that were comfortable, clean and homely. Viista allegre is set in beautiful and relaxing grounds with a magnificent pool and pool house that offered shade from the sun if required, with cool drinks from the fridge, shower facilities and much more. The service was second to none and Victoria and Jack Masters were warm welcoming and extremely friendly and helpful. Fresh vegetables from the garden were delivered to us together with lots of advice and help regarding accessing local areas. The local town of IBI was a short distance away with plenty of supermarkets, shops, cafes, ice cream parlours and restauraunts and a daily market for fresh produce and a weekly market to purchase those bargains. A fantastic, relaxing week was spent here with definate plans to return. I would reccomend the experience to anyone. |
