About the home

The apartment has 3 bedrooms up to seven people and two extra beds up to 9 people. Has two bathrooms with two showers ,a separate kitchen and a large dining room. There are two large panoramic terrace and a smaller one.
The private beach with umbrellas and sun beds is available, all free, from Easter to October end, swimming pools from May end to 24 September, into the village there are restaurants open from Easter to September end, there is a supermarket , that is open from June to 20 September.

Lovely apartment in a perfect location. with marvellous seaview on Capocaccia.Accommodated 9 pax easily with its 2 bathrooms and numerous terraces. The bathrooms have two showers and were renewed in 2006. All the beds are new and comfortable. The indipendent kittchen has all the elettrical appliance new.
In the dining room there is the table accommodate 8 ppax easily. In the terrace there are two tables up to 9 people. One of the two double bedroom has a third single bed, in the other double bedroom can be open an extra single bed. The third bedroom has two normal beds not bunk beds . Every room has a window and lot of them open on the terraces. The windws look to north, east, south, west and the home is not hot.. This autumn (2008) an electric system heating/ conditioner will be on.The home is really lovely and every guest has appreciated it

The village private sandy beach and the swimming pools have up to 4-5 life guards who look after the guests confort and safeness. A sea zone in front of the beach is protected by a net against jellyfish
The showers on the beach are free The bar -pizzeria- restaurant is close to the beach
The supermarket is near the village entrance, near the restaurant lo Zimino.
The car is necessary in low season when the supermarket is closed.( April, May, from 15 September to November)
At the airport it is possible to rent a car at Europcar office or athers.The car is necessary in low season when the supermarket is closed.. Alghero is 15-20 minutes by car (20 km) , Fertilia airprt is 15-20 minutes by car (17km).
"A very nice location with a beautiful surrounding. Very easy aces to the lovely Beach (1min. walk) with amazing clear water. Perfect for 1-2 Families with or without children. Easy to deal with the owner and the staff. We definitely can recommend this House and will be back for another Holiday! "

The Sardinia region

Historical Outline

According to historians the origin of Alghero town dates back to the first half of the 11th century when the influential Doria family from Genova, fortified a fishing village along the north-west coast of Sardinia. In this way a strategic landing point was created. It was called “L’Aleguerium” due to the large quantities of sea vegetables up on the shores by the currents. This name has been seen on documents of the Doria family and is Medieval-Latin (“S’Alighera” in Sardinian and “L’Alguer” in Catalan).

Thanks to its geographical position Alghero held a very important role in tradings in the Mediterranean, therefore it had to be defended frequently by the Genovese from the attacks of Pisan and Aragonese ships. The town remained Genovese until 1353 , when the Catalan-Aragonese allied to the Venetians won against the Genovese admiral Antonio Grimaldi at a naval battle just off Porto Conte bay, thus occupying the stronghold.

In November 1354 Pietro IV of Aragon, known as “Cerimonioso” or “Punyalet” repopulated Alghero with Catalans forcing the Sardinians and the Ligurians to flee. At the same time the town became part of the Kingdom of Aragon and remained such for four centuries, first under Catalan domination and then Spanish. Alghero to this day conserves the characteristics of the Catalan-Aragonese period, which can be noted in the architecture of churches, buildings and fortifications, and also in the language, Catalan, which is still spoken.

The Alghero / Capo Caccia area

The home is very near, just a walk distance to Capo Caccia, where are Caves of Neptune. The stupendous beaches of the zone are :

1)Mugoni beach in the Porto Conte splendid bay.From hom less then 5 minutes by car
2)Porto Ferro, From hom less then 10 minutes by car
3) le Bombarde and Lazzaretto . From hom less then 15 minutes by car

Besides in the immediate proximities it is possible to visit monuments typical of the Sardinian archaeology as her "Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju" and the nuraghe of Palmavera.

The airport of Alghero is to 16 kilometers of distance and the maritime station of Porto Torres it is attainable in about 40 minutes.

Fly to Alghero-Fertilia. The best way is by Ryanair from UK, Ireland, Germany and Spain. From April to October, also by some other tours operator (e.g. TUI). From Italy (Rome and Milan) by AIRONE. By ferries from Genova-Livorno (Tirrenia-Grimaldi-Mobylines), during summer also from France.
All the main car hire companies are based in Alghero.Car hire available, for one week the price start from 196 euro.(europcar)

“a little bit of paradise!” Sardinia is a beautiful island with lots to do. Although it is hot, the breeze makes the temperature very pleasant. There was no great humidity and no mosqitoes! Our accommodation had everything we needed. It had 2 bathrooms which was great with teenagers! . We were 4 minutes from a 50 metre pool beside a private sandy beach with a good restaurant and bar. There were ample free sun loungers at the pool and beach. There is a shop and reasonably priced restaurant in the complex also. It is a private complex so it is very quiet. There was no english spoken. A car is necessary as it is 25 minutes from Alghero. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Response: thank you for your testimony and I am so glad that you're loved apocaccia.
