Alghero Relax in Old Town
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 3
My apartment is in the very heart of the old town in Piazza Del Teatro. Up one flight of stairs the apartment has terracotta floors, a small terrace and two great windows designed to let in the bright sunshine with views to the sea and the town. You can access a narrow terrace, with a table for two where you can sip your wine while watching the sun set over the sea and Capo Caccia. The apartment has a living area with a couch and dining table as well as a 'kitchen corner' that is fully equipped to handle either a feast or simple meal. A double bedroom has old wooden beams in the ceiling. The en suite bathroom is with shower.
Just outside the apartment you're in the lively Piazza Del Teatro, in Via Principe Umberto (which locals call the "via del gusto" because of all the great restaurants - Al Bisbe, Lo Romanì and further down La Botteghina.
Alghero combines historical and cultural stimulation with the scent of the sea and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Stroll down the old cobblestone streets, linger over coffee at a charming outdoor café, peruse the stalls of fresh fruit and vegetables at the central market, or amble through the marina and along the pristine sandy beaches. Enjoy all that Alghero has to offer, around every corner and through every one of the archways that surround my appartment in Piazza Del Teatro.

The Sardinia region
Sardinia is an island of extraordinary natural beauty. It lies in the heart of the Mediterranean off the west coast of mainland Italy and white sandy beaches adorn its 1800 km coastline. The interior of the island features vast stretches of uncontaminated nature. Low Mediterranean vegetation in exotically varied colors and scents alternates with forests of century-old trees unique to Sardinia. Springtime offers a special treat as the hills alight with the blazoned yellow of our gorse bush groves.
Historically, Sardinia has been en route for the most important civilizations of the Mediterranean. Different cultures have dominated this land for centuries, leaving remnants of their lifestyles and local traditions. The first traces of man date back to the lower Paleolithic period. The native Nuragic civilisation (from 2000 BC until the Roman invasion of 238 AD) has left an inheritance of over 7000 “nuraghi“ (round stone dwellings) scattered all over Sardinia.
Sardinia, once visited, remains indelibly in the heart!
Alghero, considered by many to be the most fascinating town on the island, is situated on the northwest 'Coral Coast' of Sardinia. The town was founded by the Genovese Doria family during the first half of the 12th century. Because of its strategically important position, in 1354 the Counts of Barcelona conquered the town and Alghero was repopulated by people of Catalan-Aragon origin. This domination lasted over four hundred years and is clearly visible in the architecture of Alghero's intriguing old town and in the locally spoken dialect.
Protected on three seaward sides by great stone bastions and guarded to the land side by a series of stone towers, Alghero's churches and small squares are nodes in a network of narrow, cobbled streets.
Alghero today is a bustling little town which offers more than just beautiful white sandy beaches and emerald waters. Our unique history, traditions, architecture, and evolved social diversity hosted by an enticingly mild climate and all the comforts of home make Alghero a fascinating place to visit all year round.

"Great location and view!"
We stayed at this location for almost a month. You are centrally located to the beach, old town and new town. The owners are also delightful (they also sell amazing olive oil). The apartment is large, with a great view of the ocean on a large patio. We were VERY pleased with our stay.
It was a pleasure having you! HOpe to see you again in 2014 and thanks for the review

"Wonderful ambience with everything you need on your doorstep for a great holiday."
A four day stay in the beautiful town of Alghero was made even more memorable thanks to this fantastic apartment. Stylish, impeccably clean, wonderful high ceilings and a lovely terrace to take a coffee or sip a glass of wine if you didn't feel like poping out to one of the many bars or restaurants on your doorstep. I'll be back.....
Thank you! Hope you will come again...

"great find in the middle of old town"
A friend recommended the apartment and we were thrilled as soon as we walked in. The place is bright, furnished with taste and attention to detail, you get a spectacular view of the sea. We spent every evening sipping wine on the terrace as we watched the sun set. We were initially worried about the heat as it has no air con but the fans that were supplied were fine and at night you'd get a nice sea breeze. The location is fabulous in the midlle of the old town yet it's quiet as the flat faces a back alley. We will definitely come again!
Thanks for the warm words. Hopefully you'll give us the chance to welcome you again.

"Relaxing Break in Alghero!"
I went to Alghero in October with my boyfriend and it was the perfect break from start to finish! Nicola was the perfect host! She arranged transportation to and from the airport for us. She was there to greet us on arrival and gave us some great info on the location as it was our first time there! The apartment is located in the beautiful old town and only a short walk from the beach. The apartment itself was perfect for our stay and it had a lovely seating area out the back with a sea-view where we could soak up the sun and read our books! One of the most relaxing holidays we have been on! Lots of walks, swims, sightseeing, restaurants and romance! This is not a place you would be going to if you wanted a busy nightlife. I would highly recommend staying here! :-)
Thank you for writing about your stay with Alghero Relax. Hope to see you and your boyfriend again soon.
