The Aberdeenshire region

Aberdeenshire is located in the North East of Scotland, with spectacular scenery stretching from the Cairngorms down to the sea.

The region is well know for its variety of Castles, but also has other features including Pictish stone circles and earth houses. The region also contains two prominent salmon rivers, the Dee and the Don. In the winter the area provides excellent skiing at several ski resorts. Aberdeenshire is also the gateway to the Whisky trail. The city of Aberdeen is nearby with its striking granite architecture.

Alford

Alford is a small country village located in the heart of Aberdeenshire, situated on the river Don with its Salmon fishing and close to a variety of castles including Kildrummy, Craigievar and Huntly. It is well positioned for anyone wishing to see all that Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Buchan have to offer. Throughout the year there are regular shows and games nearby, including the famous Lonach gathering. Close to the Cairngorms, Alford is also surrounded by many easily accessible trails and mountain biking routes.

As well as being the ideal central base for a holiday in the North east of Scotland, Alford has many attractions of its own including the transport museum, Heritage Centre and Haughton Country Park. As well as many restaurants and cafes.
