The Costa Blanca/Valencia region
Welcome to this exhilarating and enchanting part of Spain. This region stretches from Valencia ( the city that invented paella, is home to Formula 1 and Americas Cup racing) in the North to Alicante (a bustling, bright port and holiday city with vibrant night life) in the south.
The coastline boasts some of the Spain's finest beaches, as well as pleasant natural features such as La Albufera – a freshwater lake famous for it's bird life, eels, flat bottomed boats and surrounding paella restaurants – and charming towns such as Altea – one of the prettiest little pueblos on the Valencian coastline – as well as the tourist Mecca of Benidorm with it's superb beaches and fantastic nightlife.
Along the White Coast of the Costa Blanca you will find some of Spain's most popular beach resorts including Javea, Denia, Moraira, Altea, Albir and Calpe offering blue flag beaches, excellent sports activities, lovely marinas and fishing ports surrounded by restaurants and bars serving some of the best of Spain's traditional cuisine.
Alfaz del Pi
Alfaz has a beautiful cobbled beach at the quiet but upmarket town of Albir, which is a 15 minute drive away, or a local bus can be taken from the town centre of Alfaz down to Albir. From Albir you can walk along the prom to the harbour and yacht port of the picturesque old spanish town of Altea where you relax in one of the fabulous sea side cafes. The fantastic and award winning white soft and sandy beaches of Benidorm are only a minute drive away.
Alfaz town centre is a five minutes drive from the villa and has lots of shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The local Friday morning market is a must for clothes, souvenirs and fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables.
Also in the centre of Alfaz there is the Casa de Cultura (cultural centre) where there are often shows, fiestas etc. It is the hub of the town, where everyone congregates. Next door to the cultural building is the sports centre with gym and tennis facilities. Although the twon is very cosmopolitan it still remains very spanish.
While you are staying in this area of the Costa Blanca you must take advantage of the theme parks which are all within a short drive from the villa.
