Home description
By any standards, Il Cortile could only be described as both stunning and stylish. In the heart of Piemonte, Italy’s renowned wine region, this 200 year old villa is set in the charming small village of Bergamasco. The newly renovated villa combines modern facilities with many original features including barrel vaulted ceilings, the old wine press, a cellar with the original wine barrels and a spectacular hand painted fresco ceiling in the old dining room.
This luxuriously appointed villa is very spacious and has a substantial enclosed courtyard garden designed by Chelsea Flower Show gardener Penny Smith. The garden provides a lawned area ideal for sunbathing and playing, leading up to a fully-fenced heated swimming pool. There is also a hayloft and a vine covered portico for barbecues and alfresco dining.
The village has 3 restaurants, 2 shops and 2 excellent butchers. Many other fantastic local villages to visit with range of excellent restaurants. Milan, Turin and Genoa easy to reach for day trips. Selection of golf courses nearby. Perfect for those looking for a relaxing holiday in a very idyllic and unspoilt part of Italy. Great for food and wine lovers, groups of friends and for families looking to spend some relaxing quality time together.

Guestbook for Il Cortile
“We have stayed in many houses and villas across Europe and can honestly say that this was by far the best. It has been renovated to the highest standard in terms of décor, facilities and comfort. The garden is especially gorgeous and since we spent most of our time by the pool, that was important! We have already rebooked for next year and recommended it to friends which is the highest praise we could offer"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your villa, you have a beautiful Italian home, that more than matched the promise of the advert."
"We were fortunate to spend a week at Il Cortile in August 2008. The property proved to be a perfect solution for three small families on holiday with young children. The house has obviously been designed and furnished by owners that intend to use the property a great deal, which has resulted in very comfortable, usable property. The outside area, where we spent almost all of our time at the villa was also a delight."
