The Languedoc-Roussillon region

The Gard area was settled by the Romans ca 100 BC. The cities Nîmes and Uzès have many buildings from the Roman Empire for eg the Pont du Gard outside Uzes, the Maison Carrée and Les Arènes in Nîmes, to name a few.

The Languedoc has enormous vineyards, orchards and other agricultural features. The Gardon River and the Cevenne Mountains give the region its special features.

Ales

The Mining museum in Alès, the steam train in Anduze, Les Cevennes, the Pont du Gard, Uzes, Vezénobres, the Bamboo Forest and Les Grottes deTrabuc are very special attractions.

There is gold-panning in Ribaute Les Tavernes.

"A beautiful, spacious house with very friendly owners"

We stayed with several adults, teenagers, and young children in this beautiful, open, and airy home. The house was very well furnished with utensils, bedding, etc. The location was ideal for us; not in town, but within walking or cycling distance from most amenities. The town of Anduze was about a 10 minute drive away.
The owners were very friendly and accomodating. We had a bit of a mixup between the people managing the house (next door neighbours) and the owners with regards to cleaning fees (cleaning was included in our rental), but it was all sorted out in the end.
The pool was large enough to accomodate several teenagers and kids playing and swimming simultaneously. Cleaning the pool was simple with the provided instructions.
The floors throughout are marble tile, keeping the house cool. Those with very young children may want to be careful to prevent toddlers from going up and down the stairs, as the steps are marble as well, so a fall could be painful.
The dining room was large enough to accomodate all of us, the kitchen had enough room that two or three could be in there cooking, and the refrigerator was large to hold food for a large family for a few days.
The area itself was very nice, and several vineyards are a short walk away. We had a great time at the house, and it served as a wonderful base point from which we visited Anduze, Ales, Nimes, Avignon, and even Grenoble. The closest train station was in Ales, and it was not difficult to make train connections.
All in all, we enjoyed this house immensely and would highly recommend it.

It was a pleasure to receive you and to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay at our home.
Wishing you all the best
