Home description
Gite du Lac is an old cottage dating from 1818 which has just finished being renovated. We are ideally situated for discovering the Normandy region or as a stopping off point if you are travelling further south.If you are a fisherman then nothing could be more ideal as the lake is literally outside the french doors!
We are situated, as mentioned, next to a small fishing lake and on the edge of the forest. It is very peaceful here yet close enough to the shops and chateaux and there are many interesting places to visit.

The Normandy / Orne region
The region is beautiful with softly rolling hills with many forests and lakes.The roads are quiet and the pace of life very relaxed!
Alencon area
There is a lace museum in Alencon, a golf course at Bagnoles de L'Orne, water sports and a beach at La Ferte Mace,local markets with fresh produce, and larger supermarkets with great deals. There are many lovly wooded walks near by with lots of wild life. So whatever you like to do I am certain we can cater for your interests.
How to get there
There are various ways to get here. There is the euro tunnel after which it is a four and a quarter hour drive to the gite. There are various ferry crossings to Le Havre, Dieppe, Caen or Boulogne. There are also flights to Dinard, Caen and Rennes. There is a direct link to Alencon from the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris also.

Further details indoors: There is a living/kitchen room downstairs with a log burning fire, this is a cosy comfortable room overlooking the lake. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a shower room...all newly fitted out. The gite also benefits from central heating. There will be a welcome basket awaiting you on your arrival, including of course wine bread and cheese!
Further details outdoors: The gite is situated at the start of a lane that leads to fields on the edge of a fishing lake. Fishing is available with a license and a permit during the fishing season. These can be obtained by the owner upon request There are beautiful walks around the gite in the forest or countryside. Many interesting places are within easy reach including chateaux, local markets, museums, shops, cider and cheese making factories. There are golf courses within half an hour and a large lake at Le Ferte Mace where there is a beach, and water sports are available. The nearest village is Pre en Pail. ten minutes away, where there are restaurants banks cafes and small shops. Alencon the nearest town, is half an hour away, which isa lovely old town with lots of character. Domfront is not far away and is a beautiful Medieval town. and well worth a visit. If a more active holday is on the agenda then there is golf, tennis, horse riding, walking cycling and water sports all in the area. But dont forget to unwind on the patio in the evening with a drink and a barbecue and enjoy the view over the lake! So if you want a peaceful break or one filled with activity then you know where to come!!
Further details
We are flexible on our change over days and are available on a dailyor weekly basis or for a romantic weekend! We are well positioned if you want to explore the area maybe with the idea of buying property or use the gite for a well earned break!! The owners house is next door to the gite and they do have wireless internet should it be needed. A baby travel cot and pushchair are also available.
Conditions
A deposit of 25% will be required when booking, with the remainder payable in euros on arrival.
