Situated on Suffolk's famous Heritage Coast, Strafford House provides the perfect base to explore the neighbouring coastal towns such as Walberswick, Thorpeness, Dunwich, Blythburgh and Southwold.
There are notable places of interest nearby: Sutton Hoo, the Anglo Saxon burial ground and museum; Snape Maltings, the famous concert hall and complex associated with the composer Benjamin Britten; Thorpeness Mere and 'House in the Clouds' and the RSPB reserve at Minsmere. Other coastal towns such as Southwold, Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Walberswick and Felixstowe will make interesting excursions, all with lovely beaches. So much to do and so little time!
Aldeburgh area
Just a minute's walk will bring you to the Aldeburgh's High Street with its mix of shops, high quality restaurants and independent cinema. Aldeburgh is well known for its association with the composer Benjamin Britten, his inspired annual Arts and Music Festival is held at the nearby Snape Maltings, attracting many well known names and visitors.
The RSPB reserve at Minsmere is easily accessible and a 15 mile journey south you will find the Sutton Hoo Anglo Saxon Burial Ground, one of Britain's most important and atmospheric archaeological sites.
How to get there
From the A12, north or south, exit onto the B1123 to Aldeburgh and follow road straight through to Aldeburgh Town. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit, still heading to town centre on the Victoria Road. At the T junction turn right onto the High Street, left onto Hertford Place and straight over crossing King Street and right onto Crag Path, Strafford House will be on your left directly opposite the sea.
